I think Hopkins should cut his hair.. whew, glad I voiced my opinion.
I know He's the man on the offense but this isn't his call. Also have to understand he's standing up for the number 1 qb... for now. When Deshaun takes over, he'll back him just the same

Honestly, Savage gives them the best chance to win right away...but Watkins should later if he continues to develop. The Texans have all the tools to win NOW and I wouldn't gamble the season on ANY rookie QB unless Savage can't get the job done or gets hurt.

I see what you're saying but IMO Watson gives them a better chance to win than a backup QB with 2 interceptions an 0 TDs in his 2 years in the NFL. Qb is their weakness if you ask me and if savage was the answer he would have been starting qb last year In the playoffs. Idk if savage was hurt during that game but if not he was backup to Hoyer which hasn't done anything good in the NFL. Watson gives them best chance to win also cause there is no tape on him in the NFL yet so his skill set and never give up mentality could take the NFL by storm. If they start Watson week one I would put my money Houston would at least make it to AFC championship game

Last night at Nuk's place while playing Madden with Watson:
Aug 4, 2017, 5:55 PM
|

Nuk: "Just like earlier in the summer, I'm going to publicly support Savage as the starter. No one will cry collusion when you take over. I'll be like, 'Ok coach, if you insist.'" [high five ensues]
DW: "Lol, awesome. Rematch? And, you can't play the Texans anymore."

How long did it take Aaron Rodgers? Steve Young? I hope they take their time and don't force Watson out there. He will be a HOF qb anyway one daybif he stays healthy.

ready to start initially and that there is no hurry for Watson. He will have his chance. It doesn't need to be game 1. Terry Bradshaw sucked as a rookie. He threw something like 5 tds and had something like close to 30 ints. Troy Aikman was bad as a rookie. Some players waited their turn. One went to arena league, then was bagging grosseries, the was the backup, but now is in the HOF. Kurt Warner of course. Maybe Savage actually is the most ready at the moment? Watson will be great. I hope starts when he is ready. I don't see why people care if he starts week 1 or not.

At the end of the day, the healthy QB who knows the playbook and racks up the wins will be the Texans QB.

Nothing wrong with that. Savage is probably more prepared to start week 1.

Watson may take over down the road but starting the vet week 1 makes sense.

Two more points ...
Aug 4, 2017, 7:52 PM
|
|
1. T. Savage has had a hard time staying on the field when given a shot at p.t. He appears to be a good man who is working his butt off ala Kurt Warner but his health is a concern. 2. This is the same T. Savage that could not beat out Osweiler who Houston could not wait to dump.

3rd point, Savage didnt have a fair shot to beat out Oswiller in TC, BO signed such a big contract he was playing no matter what. Look how long it took them to finally bench him in the back end of the season. Then they basically just traded him for peanuts just to get his ### off the team. So no Savage didnt have a shot to beat him when the GM says hes playing, hes playing.

Separating our love of DW, Houston will do what they think best for the franchise. Everybody should agree with this. Debating 1st start is meaningless until it happens since we can't know how the preps are going. None of us knows for sure, but we love DW. So let's just wait for his time. It'll come sure as rain, imo.

Nuk's comments take unneeded attention off of him and DW4...and Savage, for that matter. All things will come to pass in time.

Just a simple "I think they both are....

...excellent choices and I trust the coach to make the best decision" would have been better though.
Texans didn't move up in the first round to steal Watson if Savage is all that.
Good thing is nothing will rattle the GOAT though!

Texans and Clemson same deal
Aug 5, 2017, 8:12 AM

The situation at the Texan camp and Clemson's camp looks the same. Really talented rookies trying to unseat some not so experienced veterans. I think Nuk is right. Go with the vet until he proves he isn't the best. That is the best chance to win early

Hopkins May Be Right, BUT
Aug 5, 2017, 10:54 AM
|
|
He never has played with DW4 yet, other than a few reps in their camp. Hopkins my be right, or he may just not have had time to evaluate between the 2 and know DW4's abilities. It's early in the process, and DW4 may not have grasped the offense as well yet. In time, maybe DW4 comes on and shines, or maybe DW4 really isn't as good for them as the other guy. It is mighty early to make bold statements either way. Hopkins had to earn respect and trust when he first showed up, too.
