Example of expansion rumors.

Jul 29, 2023, 5:29 PM

There are rumors all over the net that FSU is going to announce they are leaving the ACC on 8/2. Here are the click bait headlines: FSU Board of Trustees to meet Tuesday. Leaving ACC?

Don't believe it. 8/2 is the regularly scheduled meeting for BOT.

I hope it is accurate. And I hope Clemson does the same the next day!

Well, I don't think FSU, let alone Clemson, know enough about the various options available to make a decision at this stage. Of course, we're living in tumultuous times in College Football, so who knows what may happen?

Still, even if FSU makes a move now, I think Clemson will continue to study the possibilities, options, variables, etc. before making a clear, well thought out decision--leaving the ACC after 70 years would not be an easy decision without knowing where we would be going and why!

How could it be possible that we don’t know our own options?

My brother's barber does his grocery shopping at the same store as the cousin of a guy who lives in Tallahassee and drives the same car as Mike Norvell. He said....

Or news might break… so maybe it’s true? I don’t won’t to move to the Big 10. Give me the SEC!

Hood is acting like something is happening but the timing is unknown. I would prefer the B10 as chanting SEC makes my stomach turn

With Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC it's already loaded with blue blood programs.

As it stands, Clemson is a better fit in the B1G, both academically and from an athletics standpoint. Then you basically have two power house conferences that control college football.

Give me a conference from top to bottom that cares and is passionate

About college sports. Not a conference that has a few good teams that are carrying the conference like we do the ACC.
Give me the SEC!

Agree - I don’t think anything is happening soon but

Jul 29, 2023, 10:00 PM [ in reply to Re: But Hood did act like something was about to happen ]

prefer B10 with a decent sized southern pod that minimizes trips to north. 5 games against a southern pod + 2 home / away each year with cross pod games played in late September to mid October away games on the first half/home on the back so neither N or S teams at a great disadvantage weather wise. 3/3/3 setup might work as well. Gives you possibly 3 trips to the north each year. . Again, the cross regional games would be the middle part of the season. Or if not mid - season. You could do some away games in Sep and home games in November. Assumes a 9 game schedule

$50 million exit fee. Not sure they can afford that.

Jul 29, 2023, 10:02 PM

Even deep pocket boosters would scoff at paying that much to get out. I cannot imagine Neff asking IPTAY folks to pay that to get us out of the ACC. Stranger things have happened though.

How do you keep Gamecocks out of your yard?
• Put up goal posts
What does a Gamecock grad call a Clemson Tiger grad in 2 years?
• Boss

Umm - if it was just $50 mil at stake, Clemson, FSU

and others would be gone tomorrow if they had the landing spot they wanted. The legal battle and trepidation is that with GOR, it may be over 10xs that amount that could be owed
