150 Miles Apart in Geography – But a Million Miles Apart in Status!

What a Difference 150 Miles Makes!
Two college football programs that are approximately 150 miles apart in geography. Each has a passionate fan base. Each currently has a similar record.

Yet, they are a million miles apart in status.

Clemson (2-2 Start):
Passionate Fan Base that is Accustomed to Winning

Fans are highly focused on Clemson. They are disappointed with Clemson’s slow start.

The team has shown some positive areas that fans hope will continue throughout the season. All Clemson fans appreciate these positives! The team has also shown some not-so-positives that Clemson fans hope will diminish.

The mix of positives and negatives has led to some disagreements among the fan base. Expectations have been tempered, but all Clemson fans want to see progress very quickly. Clemson fans will keep an eye on specific areas where they want improvement. Overall, Clemson fans love their Tigers with a passion. They treasure the multiple championships that their team has earned in the last decade (and in earlier decades) and they hope their team will earn them again in the near future. That said, they understand how difficult it is to win at such a high level every year.

South Carolina (2-2 Start):
Passionate Fan Base that is Accustomed to Mediocrity

Fans are highly focused on Clemson and on South Carolina. They are pleased with South Carolina’s competitive start. They are breathing a sigh of relief that Clemson is not undefeated at this point.

The team has shown some positive areas that fans believe to be special. All South Carolina fans appreciate these positives! The team has also shown some not-so-positives that South Carolina fans mentally downplay in importance.

The positives have led the fan base to believe in a strong season. One that might even end in a bowl game!!! South Carolina fans will keep one eye on their team, hoping as hard as they can to scrape out a win each week. They are keeping the other eye on Clemson – because that is what they do. They are also happy that their team’s record is not already worse than Clemson’s record – which is usually the case after the first month of the season. Overall, South Carolina fans are happy that their team seems so competitive. As always, believe that next year the rest of college football better look out because that's when they will be world beaters. That said, they have no idea what it takes to win at such a high level.
