Should be embarrassed. Probably the worst play call I’ve ever seen. Bring the house on 4 and 15 abd this game is over. Dumb , dumb , dumb!!!

I agree simoly because thats what they had done to get them to that point and ND jas absolutely noone that can make you pay with big plays except their TE's..::why stop what you were doning the entire drive on that one play!!!

This is why people wanting to get rid of Goodwin for rushing 3 are getting it wrong. Just about all of these coach do it.

the same thing. Third or 4th and long, bring pressure. Re Receivers won't have time to run long routes

Agree, BV would rush 3 often but he would always have a LB/CB, & on the rare occasions a Safety, either blitz or come on a delayed blitz to cover the QB run

Elko, who everyone fawns over, is a former DC. We remember when it doesn’t work, but there is a reason they run it.

I was thinking the same. He only brought 3 guys. What an idiot.

It was just the wrong scenario to do it. Way too much time left and they only needed a FG. If the game was 4 and they needed a TD then I could see dropping there but not with that score and time left. Put your cover guys on the field but play pressure from it again.
Ultimately, it may have cost Duke more than that game. If they get the stop there, Leonard doesn't get hurt either.

The wide open prevent type defense does nothing but prevent your team from winning.

It’s easy for a fan to sit on the couch and judge a coordinator because the play call did not work. Maybe the OC had a better play call or there was an assignment bust by a D player or perhaps an offensive player simply made a play.

I agree with you for the most part but I think this is different because it’s 4th & 16 which is a lot of distance so the general thinking is that you bring pressure to get to the QB before the WR’s even have a chance to make it to the line to gain forcing an early throw.
