I hope he hates his current life and doesn’t have any friends... because he can never go back to that life and his friends will change as will his view of them. It's all fun to dream about, but, no thank you, I’ll keep my life as it is.

Just imagine all the people you could help change their lives and still have plenty for your self. At 66, I would give it away with the exception of a few Mil to take me to the end!!! Helping others is one of the best feelings there is....

I was thinking after taxes.
880,000,000, minus about 35%. is near 550,000,000.
Either way, that's life changing money for anyone.

Now one must deduct Federal/State taxes from that amount. Gebnerally the rule of thumb on lump sum lottery payouts is you actually take home 1/3 roughly of total winning amount.

I think you only hire a lawyer to save you more in taxes than you are paying him. Thirty percent seems a little on the high side. All of the big winners opt for a trust to be created to dodge as many taxes as possible and remain anonymous if the state you bought the ticket in allows it.

No lawyer is going to get anything near 30%, 10% or 1%. He/she will pay them plenty, but not a percentage of the money. Many financial advisors are paid 1% - 1 1/2% of the amount they manage, but with that much money I suspect that that fee could be whittled down drastically. If it were mine, my friends would be getting a nice gift of cash very soon, as well as other organizations that I already support. I think the most fun would be giving much of it away. The next most fun would be never flying commercial again!

That's what I am talking about ..... but probably go with a Citation or Gulfstream! I've been on Arnold Palmer's Citation (10, I think) and I think he told me that it was the fastest non-military plane made.
