Dabo has earned the right to rebuild the program. I think most fans agree with this. That being said there is a shelf life to how long the fan base will be willing to handle the program.
This team is not in a rebuild. It's in a decline. Our recruiting used to be a top 10 program and is has slipped quite a bit.
Dabo thrived under the old ways when coaches had control of the players, not portal and no NIL. Right now we are not seeing his willingness (or ability) to adapt to the new ways of college football.
All I know is Clemson's 2 losses were to 2 teams that have invested heavily in the Portal. Duke had I believe 14 transfers and FSU I believe 27.
This is a time to just sit back and take the season for whatever it will be. We are virtually out of ACC title contention and we are probably a good candidate for the Mayo Bowl.
Perhaps Dabo needs to be doused in Mayonnaise to have a proper wake up call.

Even if we remain the same as we are now, he's still the best option we have.
I do agree though that his credibility has taken a hit given some of the reason comments. He seems to be out of touch with the reality of the current state of the program. We are not just a couple tweaks away from being a playoff caliber team.

Totally agree. He needs to stop Telling the players to stop talking about National Championships and then he goes right out and does it. He tells us this is the fastest Clemson team ever, when it is obviously not. He says Carter is the best he has ever coached, which is not even close to reality. Somewhere, at some point in time he has stepped over some invisible line from "optimism" and into the world of "delusional thinking." I don't know when, where or why it happened but it is becoming more apparent daily.

I just hope they all don’t portal out in the new era so they stay around and mature. Could be a really good team in two years!

You can’t fix stupid. We have missed on a few recruits. Hoping some of these bandwagon fans will leave and not find their way back.
Don’t have a missed fg or give up a scoop and score and you don’t read the stupid. Fact is we are not going to win every game. If you have not learned to accept that then you need to find a way to make peace with it because it is the reality of competition.

I don't. We need the IPTAY funds. Are you picking up the slack chief when these "bandwagon" fans leave?

The roster will always be slanted in that direction every year under the Dabo way of roster management. The top players leave after 3 years. The other top players who are not getting to play enough transfer out for their final year or two. That leaves you with 50+ players every year who just began shaving.

I would say we are 2-2 because of TO’s. Spin it however you want but we have given up points off of these TO’s. Start winning that and we are 4-0.

I was asked by someone recently if Dabo was in any danger and my response was 'Not really, but I think you can see it from here.'
I am less troubled by the portal use and more worried about the inexperienced coaching staff. I think maybe Dabo bought some of his own hype on culture above all and as experienced coaches move on or retire he kept replacing them with guys who this is their first college coaching job (or close to it). And lo and behold, we're now a team that constantly makes critical mistakes, tons of turnovers and a room temp football IQ.
Dabo obviously has earned the right to fix it, but we've been hearing a lot of the same song and dance for 2+ years now... time to get on with the fixing.

2 Teams that invested heavily in NIL or the Portal....
COLORADO and TEXAS A&M so what is your point? Clemson does not need the portal. And they already have NIL. Give it a rest for crying out loud. GO TIGERS!

Clemson needs the portal big time. Dabo and Clemson are the butt of jokes right now. He can't get out of his own way and is completely delusional. Someone close to him needs to be honest with him.

Actually that's not true. The reason we recruited better years ago is because the big schools,(Alabama, Ohio St., Georgia, LSU, etc.) were playing smash mouth football. We were ahead of the curve in building around quarterbacks/receivers. We had an advantage in recruiting for that reason.
Now everybody is doing that. Alabama used to have guys like Greg McElroy and AJ McCarron playing quarterback. Their last three were Tua Tagovailoa, Mac Jones, and Brice Young, all three first round picks. Ohio St. was running the Tim Tebow offense with Braxton Miller and JT Barrett. Their last two quarterbacks were Justin Fields and CJ Stroud, both first round picks.
Also, Clemson was one of the first to use social media in recruiting. In fact, Ohio St. hired a guy from Clemsongrad06 team to head up their social media department.
The problem is that we no longer have an advantage in recruiting, and we have to go against Alabama, Georgia, Ohio St. straight up.

CDS is not interested in coaching a pay-2-play college
Sep 24, 2023, 1:48 PM
|
|
…team.
I think he even mentioned that he would quit or go to the NFL when he felt he had to compromise to the high dollar payroll for a college team.
I think he knows that Clemson just does not have the money to support a $20M/year payroll. Even if he gives up half of his salary, he is still $15M short.
The transfer portal comes with a REAL DOLLAR price. You have to PAY those players. As CDS said, you may want them, but they have to want you back.
Ryan Day has the huge alumni base at Ohio State to pay his players well, as does Texas, and aTM. It just isn’t going to happen at Clemson.
This demise will carry on for another 4 years until the pay-2-play teams have organized into a multi-conference LEAGUE.
Personally, I would prefer that Clemson go back to it’s roots as a TRUE student-athlete team that would probably consist of 2* & 3* players playing in a league of EQUALS. Leave the NFL-minor league to the Texas, aTm, Ohio State, Michigan, USC, etc.
I honestly would be perfectly happy watching the Tigers play in NON-pay-2-play league.
