Ken Hatfield (12-1-1, .893)

http://www.orangeandwhite.com/news/2013/sep/25/around-acc-ken-hatfield-dabo-swinney-1-2-acc-histo/?partner=RSS

Dabo Swinney enters the Wake Forest game with a 16-2 home record against ACC teams (.889). Only Clemson's Ken Hatfield, who was 12-1-1 in ACC home games, has a higher winning percentage (.893) among ACC coaches. FSU's Bobby Bowden ranks third on the list at .861, followed by Maryland's Jerry Claiborne at .857.

So a win over Wake would put him over Hatfield?

Sep 25, 2013, 8:46 AM

17-2 would be 0.895.

Re: Dabo record is so low because...

he had to recruit his players and build his team from the linemen up. He didn't start out with Danny's boys.

Re: I drove 12 hours each way to see Hatfield's one tie

versus Va. I truly hated him coaching Clemson and was so glad when he left. He was an epic putz

Dabo is really more 16-1 one of those losses was to

Sep 25, 2013, 9:03 AM

Ga Tech right after he became interim and had 3 days to prepare. The only other loss was to Miami in 2010

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agreed. I was thinking the same thing

Sep 25, 2013, 9:05 AM

Besides he was only the interim HC at the time right?

43-21 overall record.
.672 winning percentage. Good, not great.

11-12 away record.
.478 winning percentage. Pretty bad. 6-5 away record from 2011 to present. Gotten slightly better at least. Definitely puts the pouting this year about a solid away win at NC State into perspective.

4-4 neutral-site record.
.50 winning percentage. Not where we want it. Ending the Atlanta curse has helped in recent years. Need to keep winning bowl games.

28-5 home record.
.848 winning percentage. Great job at home. Need to beat the Coots when we get them in the Valley, 2 of the 5 losses were to them.
