Cordarrian Richardson...now I'm confused

|
If grades is an issue, why is he visiting UCF today and waiting for an offer from Ohio St.?
I reeeaaally hated losing this guy. Anyone have the real story?
"Cordarrian Richardson would like to hear from Ohio State again
As mentioned Thursday night, there’s a good chance that Ohio State will at least try to find a second running back in its 2017 recruiting class.
They may not have to look that far.
“I’ve been interested in Ohio State,” 4-star Memphis (Tenn.) running back Cordarrian Richardson told Land of 10. “They just stopped talking to me. I was hearing from the running backs coach (Tony Alford) a while ago, but I haven’t talked to him in a minute. I’m still interested in them. I just like their program, all of it. I like how they do things there.”
Richardson is a 5-foot-11, 220-pound back who has offers from 24 schools, including Florida State, Clemson, Alabama, Michigan State and Oregon. He was expected to visit Michigan State this weekend but will not be doing that; instead he’ll travel to Central Florida.
“This visit to Central Florida will be my first one,” Richardson said. “I’m also going to visit Memphis, Ole Miss and Oregon. I was supposed to visit Michigan State, but they said not the this weekend (Jan. 13) and I didn’t have room left for them and they didn’t want me to take a midweek visit.”
Whether or not the Buckeyes reach out, it’s clear that Richardson is going to end up in a big-time situation. The former Clemson commitment is regularly registering sub-4.5 times in the 40-yard dash and he says he’s good to go academically. As a junior, he ran for 342 yards to help Trezevant High School win a 2A state title."

He's also visiting Michigan State and Oregon. I asked a similar question just a few nights ago but everyone seems to believe it's the whole grade-changing debacle that's surrounds him and his high school. I thought JuCo was the only option for any of them at this point...

we definitely need to get another back in, would've loved to have seen Richardson in a paw. any possibility of him coming back, or have we moved on? And if weve moved on, whos possibly left for 2017??

Outside of Etienne, I don't know of anyone for 2017 honestly.
And as far as Richardson goes - he stated at the time of his de-commitment that Clemson is still very much a priority for him. But if was getting D's on his report card and his coaches / academic advisors or whomever were replacing them with B's on his transcripts, well it's out of both our hands.
Martavius Bryant went to JuCo and transferred in. Shaq Lawson went to JuCo and transferred it. So is there a way? Absolutely. It might not be what either of us wanted but if there's a will, there is a way. Then again, if Zamir White commits to us in June (like we all hope he will), I am sure that will also impact Richardson's decision for 2018. Time will tell.

Sorry, prep school, you are correct. I know Lawson went to Hargrave.
Prep school is thought to be a better option because the NCAA clock doesn't start running & it's 1 year in duration. Prep schools are very expensive however and not every student can afford to go that route.

yes, they went prep school , not JUCO. Prep school does not count against your 5 yeas to play 4.. Juco does. as a general rule, players go to prep school if they have their "core" but need to improve their test score. JUCO , at least in the south, is used by players you need to improve their "core". in the western stat, where there are many more juco's, many players enroll in a juco hoping to improve their offers, even though they may be qualified academically. a player who did not qualify out of high school must grad from the JUCO AND be able to transfer a certain amt of hours toward their degree at a 4 year school. the hours thing is the hangup for a lot of schools, clemson included.

You can bet the NCAA will be scrutinizing his transcripts with an electron microscope...And probably. everyone else's connected to the program

Lack of an OSU offer would lead one to believe that Meyer and Staff are aware of the issues at his HS. Hindsight being 20/20,Clemson probably held on about 8 weeks too long after the story broke and hurt us with other RB prospects.

He is not "good to go" academically.
My understanding is actually that he is in fact so not "good to go" that he may not even be able to enroll at JUCO. His transcript situation is a mess; Clemson literally could not touch him with a fork and if anybody else does they'll be vacating wins later; whatever, he apparently has zero chance of getting through the NCAA Clearinghouse.
Bad situation, and in the end the poor kid is likely going to get left holding the bag for the misdeeds of the school. Which is inexcusable.

Best to just stay away from it if you ask me. Way too much drama going on with all that. The culture is more important than one player.

Why do you think he is visiting a school like UCF? He is not even close to qualifying.
That 3.7 is more like a .7 and the school was doctoring his grades (AND GOT CAUGHT)
He will not be signing with anyone and if he does it is simply for show.

Meeting minimum ncaa requirements doesn't mean you meet minimum clemson requirements.

UCF and Memphis. Why would he consider those schools with all of those better offers? There must be grade issues.

I think it's a case of we need a guy for this year just for depth but the coaches think we're in great shape for next year and won't necessarily need another RB in this case Richardson would be coming out of prep school. I think it's telling when he said "They ( Ohio State ) just stopped talking to me" teams tend to do that when they don't think you'll qualify. He might end up being a great back but we need guys that are gonna handle their business on and off the field.

you know how Dabo always says we do things the "right way"
Jan 16, 2017, 1:23 PM
|
|
well...this isn't the same case for everyone else.
Im sure Dabo sets an academic based expectation and if you can't meet it he's not going to finagle a way to get you in anyways. It could be something as simple as getting all the required paperwork in by a certain date and if a recruit can't get that done by a certain date then they move on. red flags turn into true concerns at a later date sometimes.

I'm sure UCF accepts recruits that meet the bare minimum NCAA requirement for gpa and core curriculum credits. I remember Louisville and WVU taking Peanut Whitehead and Noel Devine when no other school would accept them. I doubt Louisville does that now since they're a member of the ACC but they used to take anyone.

Wonder why we haven't gone after nicholas simms out of Alabama? I know he got hurt his sophomore or junior season and dropped off peeps radar but I think we could get him.
Just get a good feeling he'd go all in. If we could beef him up 20 lbs he'd be a bruiser. He took a visit 2 duke and cutcliff really likes him. He's also thinking about going into the army. Tells me he's tough and smart.
Had offers from bama ole miss etc. I know he's only got a 3 star but his measurables r pretty darn good.
