Coots like to say we talk too much about the past.

Fair enough, but let's wait till they take that L in November and see how fast they want to bring up the past.

I'd rather talk about the past than revel in Bama's wins.

I owned a Porsche once, and I can reflect positively on that without reservation. If I never owned one, I would have a difficult time enjoying (or more to the point reveling) in the fact that my cousin had one that he received after beating me in a race.

Why shouldn't we want to discuss the past, especially with them? Clemson, whether they like hearing or not, has beaten USuck more than any other team we have competed against in a series. They can "crow" about five wins in a row, but can't stomach the fact we routinely beat their best in Columbia from the initial game until nearly five decades into the series! Try having their team come to Clemson without interruption for the next forty plus seasons and see where they stand then! Perhaps then they might have somewhat more respect for what we accomplished in spite of the location of the series. Please don't use this SEC is better line to try and convince any Clemson fan that the past seemingly doesn't matter. USC got out of the ACC in 1970 because they didn't stack up to the competition!
I live in Cola. and have no patience for their "superior" attitude, especially when their overall win total in football is nothing compared to ours! We, at last glance, have well over ONE-HUNDRED more wins than they do. I say learn to live with those facts Game Chickens! As a historian I know all to well "what comes around goes around" so look out Game Chickens because you don't want to mess with a mad Tiger!
Go Tigers! Beat USuck!

What do you mean, "They'll start talking about the past after they get that L in November?" They're already living in the past. If I'm not mistaken, everything that occurred before the last football season is "the past." Why is there a difference between 5 years of the past and 10 years of the past or 100 years of the past. In the present tense, the yardbirds are 1-0 against the Tigers. I fully expect that to be reversed for the 2014 season. That's all "the present" can include. So in Sakerliner logic there is no streak! Go Tigers!

Because they are talking about a current, ongoing streak.

If they want to use that logic though, then we can talk about the overall record against them, since that is the current record of the rivalry, and is not in the past.

I guess it depends on how far into the past you want to go. If you only go back fifteen years, Clemson is 8-7. But, let's cut to the chase. These are the golden years of Gamecock football. And they have beaten Clemson five straight times. At the same time, they still have never played in a BCS bowl or any of the big bowls that became the BCS bowls. No SEC Championship either. That one ACC Championship Trophy must be getting dusty.

I'll bring up the past and present. Just because its the best doesn't mean it didn't happen or its erased all of a sudden. I mean the present hasn't been great with the in-state rivalry, but I'm not going to complain about and ACC Title and BCS Orange Bowl trophy either! lol You have the chance to win bragging rights in the state every year, can't say the same about Conf and BCS bowl games. Win something that really matters cockadoodles.
