Clemson, SC—Andrew Swanson shot a final round 72 to lead Clemson on Sunday at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate at Tennessee National Golf Club in Loudon, Tenn. The Tigers finished in 13th place in the 14-team national field with a score of 868 (+28) on the par 70 course. It was Clemson’s first appearance in the tournament and the season opener for Jordan Byrd’s team.


Swanson finished in a tie for 23rd place individually with a 212 score over the 54 holes with rounds of 69-71-72. He led the Tigers in par three scoring (3.17), par four scoring (4.11) and par five scoring (4.33) for the 54 holes. He was fourth in the 84-player field in par five scoring average.


Jonathan Nielsen was Clemson’s second best player on Sunday and overall with his third consecutive round of 73. He finished 48th individually and tied Swanson for team honors in par three scoring at 3.17.


Freshman Will Baker made his first appearance as a Tiger golfer and shot +11 for the 54 holes, a 221 score and 57th place finish individually. Baker shot an even-par 35 on the front nine on Sunday, best among the Tiger golfers. His top round was an even-par 70 in the second round.


Kian Rose shot 72 and 70 for the first two rounds, but struggled to an 80 on Sunday and finished with a 222 score for the 54 holes to finish in 60th place. Sophomore Thomas Higgins had a 74 on Sunday, third best on the team. His day included a 35 on the back nine, best by a Tiger in the final round.


Alberto Dominquez played the tournament as an individual and had his second consecutive round of 72 on Sunday. He joined Swanson as the only two Tigers to shoot 72 or better each of the final two rounds.


The next team tournament will be at The Blessings in Fayetteville, Arkansas October 2-4. Some Clemson players will compete in the J.T. Poston Individual Tournament September 25-26.
