Clemson 2023 Predictions

3

Jul 24, 2023, 7:40 PM

1) Clemson finishes the regular season 11-1 with a lone loss at NC State. It’s in a back-to-back road spot with Notre Dame the following week, and the Wolfpack are coming off a bi. We beat FSU in the ACCCG. Lose in the CFB Playoff semis to either Michigan/Georgia depending on the seeding. Finish 12-2
2) Shipley has 2,000 all-purpose yards. 1,300 rushing, 300 receiving, 400 on kick returns. Mafah has 700 yards on the ground and makes some huge conversions in close games
3) Clemson DOES NOT have a 1,000-yard receiver, but has four with 500-plus. Antonio Williams has the most catches
4) Trotter and Carter are great, but Wade Woodaz makes the big-time plays Boulware/Skalski style
5) Andrew Mukuba has a rebound year and leads the time in interceptions

There is absolutely no way we lost to NC state. That's just trying to be like ESPN and their "upset alerts"

If we lose it will be to FSU and maybe ND. This team is tired of the narrative and will not let a lesser team catch us off guard. And we beat coors by 21 plus easily

Upsets after a big game happen all the time. It's not an ESPN conspiracy. NC State is a good team and are in a letdown spot. I don't think they're one of the biggest threats, but it's not crazy. I also don't believe FSU hype at all. We killed them in Tallahassee last year and they basically just added a handful of 4 stars. They're still not a super talented team (I think just outside the top 15 in talent, we're #5).

Notre Dame is our biggest threat. They beat the ever-living hell out of us last year in the trenches and are returning almost all their guys. So are we, except we'll be worse at D line (I don't think Murphy and Bresee are that big of losses given their lack of production last year, but KJ is huge).

Then I'd say Duke for #2. People don't realize how good they were last year. They returned pretty much their entire team who is very well-seasoned. And we'll be playing there in the first game with a new offense and we're famous for coming out of the gate slow.

FSU is 3, followed by the Coots, and UNC (Maye is fantastic. It's all about how improved their D is). I'd say NC State is the 6th most likely loss, but they're all losable.

There was no way we would lose to South Carolina at home last year either.

I don’t think anyone was anticipating an 8/29 showing from the QB, or abandoning a run game when Shipley had 130 yards on 15 carries either

Situational awareness and matchups. If we lose a game it’s going to be because we fail to score enough and make some stupid plays/allow big passes. NC State has the defense to make our offense slip, and given all them changes, it’s bound to happen once. It did even with Lawrence at the helm (UNC 2019). Again, where it is in the season. It’ll be a game everything scratches their heads at like SC last year. I don’t think we’re losing at home at night

NC State always seems to be an assumed threat, but

… but they very seldom actually beat Clemson.

We are 18-2 against the Pack in the last twenty years.

18-2, but 4 of the last 6 decided by 10 points or less.

Just like there's no way we lose to South Carolina last year right? And no way we lose to NC State or Pitt going into 2021? No way we lose to Cuse in 2017 right? Every team is a threat - especially a decent team we have to go on the road to play.

I really believe if they avoid injuries they go 12-0. Win the ACC championship. Hard to say about the playoffs but they have a chance. The defense should be a top 5 defense. The offense will be much improved. The schedule is very doable.

Who do you see on our schedule that you really believe will beat Clemson? I don’t see a team that can stay with Clemson for four quarters.

"Will" beat Clemson. No one I would guarantee a loss against. But there are teams who can hang with us. Have you not seen us the past couple seasons? Most teams have hung with us. I hope our offense is improved, but until we see it, we don't know. Notre Dame was flat out better than us last year, and it wasn't even close. They have the same guys in the trenches they did last year. Notre Dame is better than us on the line. It's a question of if Cade can get rid of the ball quickly and our skill players are improved.

If we don’t have interruptions in our schedule I believe we will go undefeated, the ND game will be a very tough game so if we have a loss it will be that game. We win the ACC Championship.

We will go to the playoffs and I believe we will beat Ohio State & then UGA for the National Championship. This team is pretty special and reminds me of our 2018 season, we’ll have some close games but as long as Cade continues to mature & we stay healthy with our WR’s & TE’s I believe we will have two championships this season.

Let’s go Tigers!

Imagine UGA when we beat them for the National Championship & the first game next season ‘24. Our recruiting would be top 3 the next few seasons.

The last two seasons make me much less confident in predicting our season record. With that said I think we have a ceiling of 11-1 and a floor of 9-3. All depends on offense and specifically WR. I feel confident about every other position. We need to see significant improvement at the WR position if we want to get back to the CFP.

tnet-military.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'd take your scenario all the way to the CFP. And, if we

drew the Dawgs, it would be a slam bang, tossup type of game.

Butt, if we drew Meechigan, ain't no way, no how, no where, that we are losing to no Khaki Pants led Hugh Jackmans!

:)
