CFP still there

Before I say any of this, I can sit here and GUARANTEE you that Clemson has one of the top-10 best teams in the country. The rankings voters are not able to show that because of our 2 losses. But everybody really should know now after last week.

Have all of you not realized the balance that college football has shown in the past 2 seasons?

If you remember back to last year’s CFP selections, there were THREE(3!) 2- loss teams right outside the top-4. Probably more, but the remaining aren’t relevant here.

Alabama 5th, Tennessee 6th, Clemson 7th

Many said Alabama deserved to have the nod because Alabama was just simply better and that’s why.

We all know who shattered both Clemson and Tennessee’s CFP hopes, but those were two teams that could’ve made it if a little more parody had happened.

But with how things are going around the country this year, I would not be surprised if there are a jumble of 2-loss teams.

Think I sound crazy? Just watch how this season plays out.

Florida beats Tennessee after looking like crap the previous week.

Alabama beats Ole Miss after squeezing it out against USF.

Texas struggles vs Wyoming

All else aside, if Clemson turns into what we all know they can be, don’t ever count it out with how random this sport is.

Its ok to take the orange sunglasses off sometimes man. This team is good no doubt about it. This is not a playoff team. FSU is better, Notre Dame is better. I think the UNC game will be interesting.

Getting to the CFP takes some good luck sometimes and this team has had nothing but bad luck. I appreciate your optimism, but after watching the first 4 games. This is not a great team by any strech.

FSU is not better. We were about to beat them by 14 points until the bad luck hit us once again.

If a team that never screws up has a catastrophically bad play, that's bad luck. If a team that screws up consistently just screws up again, that's who that team is.

That fumble that fsu scored on that ultimately changed the game was not bad luck....it was bad football being played by Clemson....our player blew his assignment and cost us 7 points...Thats like saying a player missing a tackle is bad luck or a DB
Forgetting who to cover and they score is bad luck

We lost against fsu because we played bad football.

We missed kicks..
We missed blocking assignments
We let them go down the field basically untouched right before the half
Our play calling with the ball before the missed fg was terrible...
We got beat on the TD pass in OT
We couldn't get a first down in it on what 3rd and 1?
Our coach blew our timeouts or our players inadequacy made him waste our timeouts either way...we had no timeouts to try to win the game at the end

We wasn't unlucky...we lost because of our own actions

If we play better we will win...

Period

First things first.

Are we the nation's best 2 loss team ?

According to FPI, actually the answer to this is yes. We are 17th.

Currently we are. 17th like the guy above me posted.

But I didn’t even know that ranking agreed.

Now this is current. There will be more 2 loss teams.

It honestly looks like the PAC-12 may be tough to compete with this year.

But the ACC is having one of its best years, and the SEC is really sort of down.

If Clemson steadily dominates and shows true promise to beat another playoff team, you have reason to put them in.

Especially with the remaining teams we have scheduled. And of course an ACC Championship as well.

But like I said, last year 5,6, and 7 were all 2-loss teams.

You are all over the place, man. Should delete the thread from yesterday where you were feeling all that pain over "being out of contention before October."

Just not happening this year.

IF we go on a tear and just blow everybody out the rest of the way, somehow back into the ACC championship game, and win that, then we will have a punchers chance. But I just don’t see all of that happening.

Plus, the SEC and B1G champions will be in no matter what. And the media really want to get the PAC 12 a spot this year, so go ahead and pencil in the PAC 12 champion as well. That leaves one spot. It’s just not happening this year.

I’m all for homerism but this is getting towards Dabo territory.

NO chance this team makes the playoffs even if they ran it out and beat every team by 40… were still not getting in.

As someone above said… the SEC and B10 champs definitely get a spot and the PAC12 champion will be deserving as well bc that’s the best conference in college football this year.

The last spot will go to either the SEC Championship game loser or the Michigan/Ohio St loser.

This team will get better and we’ll be ok but we’re going to take some lumps this year. More losses are coming so prepare yourselves. This is a 7/8 win team bc of the schedule which just so happens to be really strong this year.

The schedule is the reason there would be hope, but I don’t think even a strong 10-2 with a great schedule gets us cfp, peak would be NY6.

If it happens, we would be the first ever 2-loss team to make the playoff (in it's 10th year). We need absolute chaos, and to be completely dominant the rest of the way. We also likely need to avenge one of our losses in a big way (FSU or Duke) in the ACCCG. IF all that happens, it still likely would not be enough.

Hate to say it, but it's not going to happen without the most chaotic college football season probably ever.
