Campus Sight Playoff Games

Assuming this will eventually happen, maybe by 2030, what teams would be most interesting to play on the road at? And what teams would be cool to see in the Valley for a playoff game?
My choices:
Road: Alabama or Ohio State Home: Georgia

I have zero interest in sitting outside in places like Iowa, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, or Michigan in mid to late December watching a playoff game. I attended the 2001 Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, Idaho and that was enough for me. I'm a southern boy and I just ain't built for that.

Oh man, good point. Erase my Alaska pick. It’d just be cold and dark in January.

I’ve skied Bogus a bunch of times, kinda learned there.
Stadiums? I just can’t get very excited about anyone else’s place. Give me Clemson at Clemson, it doesn’t get better than that for me.

My preferred road playoff opponents if Clemson must play a road game would include:
Anybody in the PAC12 not named Oregon or Washington.
Anybody in the BIG10 not named OSU, Michigan or Penn St.
Any mid-major.
I can't imagine what a road atmosphere would be like at a school that actually cares about football and has a relatively large capacity to their stadium.
Playing Bama, OSU and the like is loads of fun in neutral site games, but having to travel to those stadiums to open the playoff (meaning we are the inferior team) sounds like an almost certain loss to open the playoff.

I could be wrong, but I thought starting in 2024 this will happen.
The 4 games that will get you into the quarterfinals will be held on campuses.

We would have gotten a bye this year as one of the top 4 conference champs (Utah likely the odd one out based on final CFP Rankings).

Utah would have actually gotten the 4th seed this season as the 4th highest ranked conference champion ahead of K State and Tulane.

Yes. But the ACC champion will get a first round bye.. (Considering that the best teams are leaving the PAC 12 and BigXII).
So Clemson will not play in these road CFP games.
But perhaps by 2030 things will have changed significantly. Perhaps the best teams will leave the ACC? Perhaps a team like FSU will be able to win the ACC?
But in the near future Clemson is going to be the ACC champion and the ACC champion will get a first round bye.

Since this whole playoff expansion is about TV dollars it’s pretty easy to see why they stopped at 12 teams. They wouldn’t want 8 games on one day as it would dilute eyeballs. So how do you think they can squeeze 4 games that won’t overlap into one day with modern replay reviews, passing offenses and overtime? I’m thinking the west coast will get an 11:00 pm eastern start. Who will stay up for that?

I believe it’s likely that you have overlapping games if you have 4 in one day. But there’s about 2 weeks from conference champ week until New Year’s (when the neutral site quarter finals will be played). So they schedule games like this (If it was THIS year)
1) #12 Tulane at #5 TCU-12/16 @4pm 2) #9 K State at #8 Tennessee-12/16 @8pm
3) #10 USC at #7Alabama-12/17 @4pm 4) #11 Penn State at #6 Ohio State-12/17 @8pm
3)#12 Tulane at #5 Ohio State-12/17 @4pm 4)#

Campus site games will start as soon as it goes to 12 teams. Way before 2030.

There is a 25% chance that Clemson would host a team like Tulane or Coastal Carolina.
A group of 5 champion will be in the field every year.
