Why just give him another year though?

Look I like the kid as a person. He seems like a genuinely good kid.

Nothing on the field has shown me he should just be given another year. Get a big recruit or have someone come in via the portal to push the kid. Then see if he can win the job in the spring vs just giving him another year.
