It was on 123 next to where Tiger Sports Shop is now - just after you turn right off College Ave. Great dance spot in the early 80’s! Gap Band, Kool and the Gang, Midnight Star - good music. Add cheap beer and coeds and you have a winning recipe.

My freshman year! Had a buddy who was a senior. I’d be studying, or as least saying I was studying. He’d call up and say either ‘man, nickel draft’ or ‘man, quarter long neck natural light.’

Nah, BbO! Now, ‘02 will be wearing it around town, an’ when folks axe him about it, he’ll say “…. yeah, my favorite hangout when I was at Clemson!”. Then he’ll say “…. I remember pretending to study as a freshman, an’ my roommate - a grad student - wood call and say ‘hey man’ nickel drafts or quarter pitchers….”. If they say they don’t remember it, he can say “… man, the coeds loved it - it was in the hole - where Tiger Sports Shop is now….” . . .
Say, did I ever tell you about being stationed outside of Boston in the 80’s and I used to go to Cheers a lot? Drank with Woody Harrelson all the time….. 😉

The only place you could get hammered and when you left it was still be day light. My wife and I use to go there all the time. 42 years later we still talk about the good time we've had in there.

The shell of the building was still in place last summer, though it was padlocked
and condemned. We'd go on Thursday nights...$1 cover and $.25 Bud longnecks all night. I had that design in a "softball shirt"...logo was on front left chest with a couple of buttons. Some trim on the short sleeves. Mine was orange. Place opened about 1980, as I recall.
Tiger Sports Shop is the building that housed an old bar then...Lamar's.

rotting away. Was Bolwinkles when I started. Seems they had a 35 cent can night. $1 to get in, then more than I needed on a $5 bill. A few years later it changed to Crazy Zacks.

First and maybe only place I ever had to use someone else’s ID to get in. I was only 17 for the whole first semester of my freshman year. One of my roommates was a junior. I was 5’ 7” and about 150 pounds with straight black hair and my roommate was about 5’ 11” and about 165 pounds with curly black hair. So other than hair color, we looked nothing alike but I successfully entered Boll Winkle’s using his driver’s license several times. No where else in town even bothered to check.

That's true! My sister was there in '76. She showed me her "library" card. If our parents called her room and she wasn't there her roommate said, "She's at the library". Mom and dad were so proud.

I worked there when it opened. Three guys that once worked for the Crazy Zachs "chain" (they had one in Raleigh, Athens I believe and one in O.D.) opened it. I remember zoo night on Wednesday. 10 cent draft and $1.00 buckets. I would stand at the tap all night with a stack of cups and never shut the tap off.
Quarter longnecks were a nightmare. A ton of broken glass to clean up afterwards. one night after closing we sat there and drank while Steve Fuller and Dwight Clark played the poker machine until they got tired of it. Ah, the days.

I went there on a regular basis from 1982-87. I can’t recall what year it changed to Crazy Zack’s. I preferred the music and dancing there over other places in Clemson BUT I was a regular on Thursday nights at Tiger Town for the cheap pitchers of beer. I think they were 25 cents??
