Clemson/Syracuse Game Week

Morning TigerNet!
Looking forward to having the Tigers in town this weekend. Our home slate’s weaker this year, so this (as usual) will be the premier home game.
We’ve got depth at spots more so than in the past and less at others. We’re a little banged up, but all things considered, I’m really interested to see how we match up this year.
We haven’t played anyone nearly as talented/good, so it could be a rude awakening on our end. But, I also feel like we’re in a better position than years’ past to square up.
If you want some friendly banter, head over to Syracusefan.Com.
Looking forward to a great game!

yeah, I would feel the same way after 2017. Yikes. I've been to your place twice. Amazing experience. Great people. My favorite roadtrip whenever i go.

Do you feel like you guys are better than last season? Know your stud running back is gone. Seems like last year, got off to the great start but faltered late. What are the keys and trends for this particular team?

There’s no debate who the more talented team is. And there’s no debating our early schedule’s been soft. But you play who you play. And one of our main issues is always depth. Injury bug seems to be a trend for us and this season’s no different.
If we’re not healthy going into the back half of the season, as you saw last year, it’s a struggle.
I feel stronger about our defense than last season. Our DC is one of the architects of the 3-3-5 and outside on one half against Army has put a very good product out there. And although we’ve lost playmakers on Offense, I feel like we’re more dangerous to pop a big play if not as consistent.
I feel like we’re better in spots. We are deeper and more experienced at WR. But we’re also lost our top WR to injury and our arguably 2nd best looks to be banged up too.
Our QB is a year older and very productive. LB’s are a strength on D and our Specialist are greatly improved.
Our RB last year Sean Tucker was a stud. But many of us feel he played banged up in 2022, so there was a regression from his So year productivity. Lequint Allen is a true So with some wiggle, slippery guy with good speed. The depth behind him is untested and we don’t really know what’s there.
Our Secondary took a beating to the draft and the portal over the past couple years. But we seem to have recovered nicely with a mix of younger players developing and some portal additions.
Our DL is smaller but experienced. The 3-3-5 we run is not traditional and works on our LB’s and DL working together to be gap sound. My biggest fear is our ability to stop the run, which Army exposed in the 1st half until we made adjustments. If we can’t get you into 3rd and medium or long, it’s going to be tough to compete. Not that you can’t complete passes, but we’ll need to create pressure to be successful and passing situations present that opportunity.
Our OL has yet to start the same combination due to people being banged up. That’s been just about everyone’s biggest concern for what feels like forever. If we can’t hit some balls vertically, we’re going to struggle to run the ball effectively.

wow! sorry about all the injuries, but I just don't see the Tigers struggle with many of your guys out and don't know about depth. At least Duke had some good depth and a lot of options at the running back and receivers. Looks like you don't have as much to depend on. Unless the Tigers continue to cough up the ball at critical times they should win decently comfortable.
