Anyone here still on Team Stop-The-Steal?

Obviously CT1988, though he's been conspicuously absent since the Electoral College votes started coming in.
Anyone else? Seems like even Miura and OrangeCrush have moved on to other more critical topics like the Biden Crime Family.

1988 as you satted. T3 says he doesn't know for sure, but seems to lean that way. Miura just thinks we are all idiots for voting Trump out, who he sees as the greatest president in US history. I am not sure about OrangeCrush.

Biden's win isn't a win for America. It was the best of two

losses. He's part of a broken system. Trump was a train wreck trying to change that system. Too abrasive, unrelenting, and the art of the rule was no way to fix things.
But Biden works with the broken system, he's part of it. And a functioning bad system is better than a failed bad system. I sure hope the GOP can pull someone actually good and decent (who can explain WHY they're a conservative for example) from their ranks who didn't go nuts on the Trump trainwreck. Trump has tarnished a good portion of the GOP.

Exactly. Biden just slowed the bleeding from Trump. We need to pick well in 2024. Hopefully we are all alive to see it.

Tiggity,
You seem like a thoughtful person so give this some thought. What are the top, say 5 things, that you would like to see happen to "fix" the broken system. Don't feel compelled to stick to 5.

Congressional term limits. Balanced budget amendment.

A fair tax system with a flat rate (tapering off below $50k). Increase in the capital gains tax. Enforce immigration laws. A 10% reduction in spending (including baseline budgeting) across the board, everywhere. Invest in infrastructure more. Hold internet companies libel for published materials. Not internet service providers, but hosts of servers who allow anything to be posted. Tax credits for school choice. Raise the SS retirement age. Fairness doctrine wasn't bad either. Bring that back. Line item veto as well. Just some things that would help.

Why increase the capital gains tax? I am totally opposed to that. I could live with the fair tax. I prefer a national sales tax of 10% and done!

with unequal taxation. So if you profit on debt, you profit more through the markets, and then more when you sell at a lower tax. That's why the markets pay such attention to interest rates. They drop, debt becomes cheaper, investments flow in, market increases, and stocks rise. Giving you an added asset. And when you sell, it's taxed less than if you made that same amount as income. It's a big way the rich get richer.

and your suggestions would only make it worse. Sales tax and other consumption taxes tend to hit poor people the hardest. Capital gains should be taxed like any other income. Doesn't make sense that billionaires pay a lower tax rate than their secretaries.

I'd back just about all of that.
Iffy on school choice. I think it'd be used to effectively gut the public school system and even if you make schools metric-based what you'd wind up with is schools choosing their students as opposed to the other way around.
I'd also add my two biggest - ranked choice voting, and across-the-board neutral arbitration for congressional districts. Gerrymandering is about the least Democratic thing I've ever seen...again, it's our politicians choosing their voters (at representation ratios that are almost criminal, in every sense of the word), as opposed to the other way around. Nothing is more dangerous than a politician who thinks he's "safe" as long as he or she caters to the fringes in their particular district.

Joe will get just as much respect from me as the dem's gave Trump... Zero. He's about as ligit as O.J. is innocent.

I meant the dems in Washington and the media. You know, that whole 'resist' bunch. Now they get to see what its like when about 40% of the country doesn't believe their guy is legit. Or barely even cognizant for that matter.

You know, regardless of which side you think is more disrespectful or extreme or ignorant of the facts - at some point (how about now) we ALL need to grow up and start talking with each other. democracy cannot survive if there are two sets of "reality"
I acknowledge the Reps who decry, "NOW you want to work together !" But if WE don't work together, we are going to fall apart. i am not asking conservatives to give away the house, but can't we listen to each other in a spirit of compromise. It's got to be about US - all of US - winning to some extent and not just about Us beating THEM.
We complain when the members of Congress take this approach, but how much better do we Americans treat each other ? Let's commit to trying to agree on evidence and facts and then see if we can find some common ground on policy. If the people lead, the leaders will follow.

Why would any person with morals or half a brain respect Trump? He is a deplorable human being and an awful leader. Trump earned his disrespect.

That's hilarious. Nobody has ever come for your guns, but you think Biden will take the time and danger to even attempt that? You've been brainwashed. If there are any gun laws changed it will be about background checks and certain guns that can be sold. Whatever guns you have will never be touched. Get real. Hard to believe that's even an issue for you.

spoon,
Yeah Muira & OC don't have a leg to stand on about the election, so now they are imagining all of the possible problems that might arise under Biden.
One of the things that occurs to me more often as i get older - sometimes the best thing to do is keep quiet. Perhaps the reactionaries here could wait a few months and see how Biden actually governs.

The Dems just call it “looting” , and that’s just fine with them. Stealing is bad, but looting is always justified.

Why would they? They aren't. They would if they went with what you want. Luckily we live in a democracy as much as you hate it. They voted for Biden though. So there's that.
