Our offensive issues had less to do with Streeter and more to do with QB and O line. Jmo

I disagree about the "WR Talent"! The talent is there - just underutilized.

Remember the 80/20 balls we used to be so proud to talk about? Or at least the announcers used to talk about how "at Clemson they don't see them as 50/50 balls they see them as 80/20 balls".

Well, that was because the QBs in the past could "put the ball in the vicinity of the WR" so they could make a play on it. It's the same reason we had a 6'6 TE in B-stool who we underutilized. Afraid to throw it over the middle or too inaccurate to throw it over the middle because mistakes there mean picks/ints.

You have to have a QB that is confident enough and "CALM ENOUGH" to throw it. I always got the sense the last few years a couple of our QBs have been waiting for "WIDE-OPEN". Open in college is different than H.S. and open in college is different in the NFL.

Our last two QBs came from schools where they typically stepped on the field with a talent advantage. Likely, long story short, just had to lay it out to wide-open WRs. When they don't see it like that in the game; they hesitate.

I think our WR room could be upgraded - with all that said! We need a few more short-area quickness-type WRs. I think we ended up with a stockpile of tall lengthy types; who may be more jump-ball WRs. But, on 3rd and 5 you need a shifty/quick dude on a safety or LB running a crossing route to pick up the yards to gain.

Our WR talent has fallen off a cliff. Look around at other top teams. They have receivers you have to scheme for weekly. Heck, look at the NFL draft the last few years. OSU has multiple WRs drafted each yr. None of our WRs scare any top 25 programs. Don’t get me started on Oline. They have needed lots of work since the 2019 group.

I actually agree with most of this … the talent on paper has prob gone down but iv been saying it for a couple years now and def agree that we don’t really know what we have bc we don’t give them opportunities… Mike, Sammy , nuke, tee, etc all had many balls that were incomplete or they couldn’t come down with but it seemed like they got a ton of opportunities to go make those plays or draw flags… we seem to only throw like 1-2 deep balls a game if that. Sometimes you can throw to wide open wrs DE and TL let the guys go make plays a lot of times and we just don’t do that anymore IMO.

So I’m not sure what you’ve been watching but there isn’t a single WR on this team that can high point and ball and beat off CBs for the ball. I’ve seen horrible tracking of the ball and poor jump timing and zero fight. Yes some balls have been off which I didn’t blame the WR for but there’s been plenty that the WR just couldn’t come down with it.

On the flip side I think there have been times that we have WR open but our QBs the past three seasons either A. Couldn’t move much past his first read or B. OL gave them zero time.

Amen. There’s no WR on this team that really scares other teams. Our best wr is like 4’11 and he’s good but not gonna win against the best teams on the schedule with regularity . Gotta upgrade the down the field talent and have brown be an underneath guy rather than fighting for deep balls

If you don’t let the qb throw cross the middle how do yo know if he can make the throw. What say you Streeter

50/50 balls become 80/20 balls for less than about 10 guys in a given CFB year. We have not had those guys. The QB and OC have noted this and wisely chosen to stop throwing those balls too often. If we want the 80/20 guys we have to be prepared to pay 7 figures for one-and-done guys like Coleman, Harrison Jr, etc.

Explain to me how this year when plays weren’t going right we constantly said, ‘Dabo needs to quit calling place and let Riley do his thing!’

But last year, when something seemed to be not going well, we don’t even consider the possibility of Dabo, stepping in. As most head coaches do, Dabo has always been involved in the playcalling to a certain degree.

Just like DJ, streeter wasn't the only problem but he wasn't the solution

So if Clemson recruits and develops talent, what's the problem. Who is responsible for this? Dabo and his coaches, hence the changes. Tyler hit a raw nerve with Swinney. Eyes have really been on Dabo this year! Next year's opener against UGA will make or break Clemson. A bad loss and the narrative will become the fall of Clemson under Dabo and ########## again.

Plenty of blame to go around in the rearview mirror. Windshield mentality....Coach Swinney is making changes where changes need to be made.

I don't know if this is even accurate but I remember when Dabo let Streater go, there was a reference to the coach's exit meeting at the end of the season that did not go well. It was mentioned that Dabo did not like some of the responses Streeter was giving him about what happened and what needed to take place to turn it around.

One thing in particular that was a bone of contention between them was the lack of development of the QBs. Supposedly, Dabo expressed that not enough was done to help DJ improve, or to get Cade ready to take over. Again, I don't know if this is true but it did seem at the time that this might have been one of the bigger issues that they could not get past.

I guess that is all water under the bridge now but I found those comments kind of interesting at the time, assuming any of it was really true.
