I think with the hiring of Garrett Riley and the talent we have on board, this year is going to be a good year for the Tigers !! Riley already had some experience with CK and yes I cant blame him for coming to Clemson. I still cant figure out why CK wasn't started about mid season and Streeter and Dabo moved on from DJU. They wasted half a year of his CK's college career trying to fit a square peg in a round hole!! A young Coach like Riley and the guys we have will be chomping at the bit to show the new Coach what they can do on the field when spring practice starts. We as fans will see a whole new level of energy we haven't seen in 3 years. GO TIGERS

CK2 had 2 TDS and 3 INTs in 2022.
At Clemson, the best players play. Our objective is always to win NOW. DJU was far better than CK2 this past season.
Go pull for BC or Wake if you want to see a team lose games in hopes of developing a winner at QB for some future season.
(Yes, I recognize that my application to join the CK2 fan boy club has been rejected.)
Let’s be patient with CK2, now that he will likely start over Vizzina to start the 2023 season. We have a very good chance to have another excellent season, with a good chance to play in (and hopefully win) the ACC Championship.
Go Tigers!

That’s easy. DJ is not a zone read QB. He’s too slow. I really like DJ but he was never the right fit for the offense we run.

That's correct, and the few times that we saw CK2, he appears to be a magician with the ball. The next few years should be fun.

CK2 was far too predictable with his scrambling. I bet that 90% of his scrambles were to his right.
Against UNC’s weak defense, he wasn’t pressured much, so this tendency wasn’t as obvious to opposing defenses that were poorly coached.
Even UNC adjusted to CK2 at the helm; we had only 1 touchdown drive in the second half.
Against TN, the ‘he’s ready’ mirage disappeared.
For 2023, CK2 will have had the benefit of knowing that his athleticism, which was superior in HS, won’t be enough in many cases to make plays as a collegiate QB.
Surely he will learn to roll left frequently so as to become less predictable.
For the 2023 season, we should enjoy watching another excellent season.

Dabo has shown he'll replace his starting QB, IF he's ready to do so.
DJ was looking much better than last year and led us to 8-0. Nobody is going to force a not-ready QB into a situation, especially when the incumbent is winning games.
You nailed it. Not sure why se dudes are still making the silly "Cade should have started earlier" argument.

I'm not one of the Cade should have started earlier in the season fans, but I am very much one of the Cade should have gotten meaningful playing time earlier and more often than he did fans. How many 2nd and even 3rd team players are subbed for 1st teasers at almost every other position, offense and defense. The only position I can think of is center.

This is 100% it and I said it all year.
(Re-litigating the situation is kind of silly - DJ is gone and we all know why.)
Cade should have gotten meaningful playing time - I mean half the games! - against Furman and Louisiana Tech, games where we were playing a lot of guys to be prepared for bigger games later in the season.
Instead, DJ stayed in basically the whole game because we were "building his confidence." Even though he had the whole 2021 season to get confident.
We should have considered the switch after the Syracuse game but kept DJ. Then we threw Cade in during desperation time against Notre Dame, when we were getting killed, and we're surprised he didn't play well?
The game I'll never understand is USC, because we gifted a game we should have won to the Gamecocks. I'd call that the worst executed (and coached) game of Dabo's tenure. Finally, we made the change against UNC, and Cade was MVP. The Tennessee game... well, they were an elite team with much better line play. Cade didn't look great, but it all went back to not getting more work in the season.
We all like DJ, great kid, great leader. He has the tools. But he doesn't play the position very well. I will be fascinated to see how he performs at Oregon State. Kelly Bryant played the position better at Clemson.

Look, was Cade completely ready? No. Should he have played in the second half vs UofSC? Absolutely! I feel 100% confident we would have own that game. Run the ball and zone read, you win going away. It was obvious to 80000 people that DJ had lost all confidence by midway 3rd quarter.

He was 11 of 22 for 98 yds, 1 TD and 1 INT.
Magician?
Look, I think the kid will be great, but he wasn't ready. UNC was nice, but UT showed his lack of readiness.

I agree with everyone here as far as scrambling ability. I was referring to zone reads on run plays. It was hard to determine if he handed off to the back or kept the ball.

You can't lay all the blame for the UT game at Cade's feet. The offense was too predictable and the OL didn't open enough holes for Wil Shipley to run. The Vols defense was on the LOS most of the game daring us to pass down the field and we played right into their hands with the short sideline passes mos of the time. That won't happen with Garrett Riley.

Trevor not Deshaun is doing much better against UT with ZERO blocking. Everyone has a warped perception of everything being perfect with those two

Cade looked like he wasn't prepared when he got snaps.
In the 2022 spring game, Cade looked fantastic. DJ looked like 2021 DJ. I was personally shocked that, yet sadly not really, Dabo sang DJ's praises in preparation for the Fall.
DJ looked bad in the first couple of games. CK2 should have been given meaningful time and been equally prepared to start at the beginning of the season. He wasn't given the opportunity to take over at the beginning of the season. Great.. Then DJ began to look pretty decent/good. Then he fell apart.
Perhaps CK2's impressive high school run was simply a fluke and he doesn't have the ability to make it at the college level? I doubt it. It simply looked like he was unprepared (by the coaching staff?). The results in the OB weren't that surprising. He simply wasn't given much opportunity during the season to be mature/ready for the OB. Also, the play calling was very bizarre... Why we weren't taking advantage of our success on the ground and putting all the pressure on CK2 was beyond me.

Agree. I'm looking forward to hearing and seeing Vizz. He's at least more physically ready than cade was last spring. One, at least at the get, Vizz will have the young group of receivers... although imo, it won't take long for a couple of them getting first team reps.
Anxious to see beaux healthy and working with cade. All around exciting stuff. One month.
Got to wonder if White really did feel he was at minimum two years from starting.

Without knowing the player position of every position to compare with what TCU was working with last season, I'll just say that we're on equal or better footing talent wise as what TCU was last season while on their way to the national championship game.
If Wes Goodwin can hold up his end of the bargain with our team this coming season, I think we should feel that we have a great opportunity to land back into the playoffs having another chance to play for another Natty!!!

He must be delusional. Cade was not ready last season. He could not beat out the suckingest QB in my memory of Clemson football. No way he can become the total package in one month. Or......is Garret telling the truth and Streeter and Dabo we're full of pure BS all last season? Hmm..... I think the latter is true.
