Serious question about the flag and the NCAA
Jul 9, 2015, 9:43 AM

No need for political opinions here. Like ########, we've all got one and they all stink. Here's the question: The NCAA was continuing their boycott of SC hosting NCAA events because of the flag. Will that be ending now?

Presumably. Don't know if it's been officially said.

But I don't see why it wouldn't happen.

I think the NCAA supports the NAACP boycott
Jul 9, 2015, 9:57 AM

I don't know that it will change unless the NAACP drops the boycott. For some reason I don't think that the NCAA ever took a position on the flag or the compromise (they would have then had to condemn the states of Georgia and Mississippi and Ole Miss directly) but instead say they support/recognize the NAACP boycott.

in 2002 on what is CU's home court for this year....
A chance we could play opening round games in G'Vil or Cola if we ever get to the NCAA again..

I would assume.....

that once the flag is removed from the Statehouse grounds, the NAACP would lift its 15-year old largely ineffective economic boycott in which case the NCAA would no longer rely on the boycott as a basis for not holding events in the state.

It wasn't THAT ineffective. The flag's coming down.

Dylann Roof by himself probably couldn't have done that.

handful of calls after the flag comes down is to whoever in the NCAA needs talkin' to. The irony will be whatever the first big event the NCAA brings back to South Carolina is will probably bring out the flag boys to protest the NCAA being back, lol.

Forage Clemson even being eligible to host a ncaa basketball semi region?
Nit tournament didn't care about the boycott.
The ncaa /naacp boycott never impacted Clemson in baseball , basketball, or football.
I recall seeing Clemson host rowing tournaments.
Don't know how golf or track and field hosting is done.
ACC tournaments are dictated by the acc. Do you truly believe these were not hosted in sc because of this boycott?

In theory absolutely.

I just don't foresee it happening. Clemson or scar would have to get pretty popular.
Else venues in north Carolina or Atlanta would trump.
Maybe the tourism industry in mettle beach or Charleston could influence the committee. Maybe.

The NAACP has publicly stated, flag down=boycott over. The NCAA sites for the bball tourney have already been selected through 18. I fully expect that women or men tourney will be hosted in SC in 19.
I also believe ACC &SOCON baseball tourneys will return to the state and that there will be an attempt to get a bowl game to come to the state

Eventually
The BSWC (old Bilo Center) as well as coliseums in Columbia and Charleston can now bud to host any basketball NCAA regionals... Male or Female...
This year when SC women hosted first round they had to get permission from NAACP to do so...
Nothing will happen this year but it stands to reason that doors are open now
I anticipate that with the renovated Littlejohn... You might even see more invitational tournaments hosted ... As well as the other sites

It should, if that really was the reason. We should find out in the not too distant future, if Swofford doesn't sabatage us for one of his more favorite teams.

ACC championships at off campus sites. This means Tennis Golf Soccer Baseball and any other sport that plays its championships at off campus sites.
You may have noticed we frequently host the ACC indoor track and rowing on campus. Thai is because there was an exception for on campus sites.

There my have been an exception for an event or two played at Clemson when no other venue seemed to avail itself, but there is no exception that can explain away the bias Swofford has shown against Clemson.
