ACC Wrestling...Time for reinstatement of our once competitive Wrestling program!

Now that ACC Wrestling has 4 teams ranked in the top 10, 5 in the top 20...and the NCAA about to officially announce Women’s Wrestling as an emerging NCAA sport, what does TigerNet think about bringing those programs back to campus?!?!
The ACC is now ranked 2nd behind the B1G in competitiveness and crowds are hovering between 4000 and 5000 for meets at the 6 existing programs.
Scholastic Wrestling in the South has become much more competitive and is producing talented athletes that have to leave their respective states (including South Carolina) to compete at the highest levels.
We could begin vying for individual and team championships quickly and inexpensively if the AD would be interested in moving forward...

NCAA Womens Wrestling at Clemson...

Yes, Women’s Wrestling is the fastest growing sport in the nation and is growing faster in the Southeast than anywhere else.
This sport has already arrived and Clemson should be smart to embrace it, add a Men’s program back and initiate an Olympic Training Center off campus as well.
The AD says he likes to win championships? Well, he would get his ACC Conference and National Championships (Individual at least) pretty quickly and gain even more valuable exposure to Clemsons commitment to non revenue sports as well.
Minimal cost / Maximum results...fast (3 years) would give Clemson great exposure on the ACCN

I would certainly watch. There is some good wrestling in North and South Carolina at the high school level.

Gil did not do the program any favors when they pulled the plug. Its a new administration that probably does not still have the bad taste in their mouth.
There was a powerpoint floating around from a handful of years ago about a pitch that was made to the University about bringing Wrestling back as a varsity sport.
If they could bring Sammie Henson back to coach then you could probably see some results in a short period of time.
Doubt there is much interest in bringing it back by the AD though.

This being said, when are we going to bring back Fencing. This sort easily translates into a sport for both men and women.
