Does anybody have a link to a video clip of the hit on Shipley that was not called targeting? Heard a lot of discussion but haven't seen the actual hit.

What on earth are any of them looking at when the play was as obvious as it gets.
I was angry, not like Will but was angry at the lack of a call and disregard for such a blatant and painfully obvious missed call.
Accountability for players safety, refs failed miserably. Dabo will not let this go lightly given the history with Will Shipley having been concussed recently.

It sounds like a crazy conspiracy theory - but I believe the ACC football

…officiating is systemically CORRUPT. And, by that I mean, I believe that these ACC football officiating crews are “on the take”.
You have to open an investigation and begin subpoenas against the ACC officiating financial transactions.
Where there is smoke, there is fire. There are just too many blatant, game-outcome-changing, bad calls, noticed by EVERYONE, that something has got to be wrong.
Right now, the ACC conference has put “gag orders” surrounding the entire officiating organization.
We all know that “power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely”.

Humans make mistakes. I understand you can miss some things. HOWEVER . . with the refs in teh cloud, nothing should ever be over looked. Upstairs can call it, it's obvious.

Centralizing the review was the worst thing that happened. Now, one person

or maybe just a few, can control the outcomes of the entire conference. They have WAY too much control. Before, if you wanted to payoff a reviewer, you had to find out who it was at all of the different games. Now, you just have to find out who is in the central office and work from there. The first thing that needs to happen is the idea that every play is reviewed. They are not. Anybody who watches a lot of ball knows they do not review EVERY play. Just look at the Duke interception last week. The second thing is the coaches need to demand that they only get to review the plays where a coach tosses his own flag. 2 per half. Targeting could get an additional flag. The third, is the refs should have to attend a press conference after the games just like coaches. They should be held accountable. I have never thought this before, but it has gotten ridiculous how bad they are. And one of the worst things they do, that gets very little talk, is the spotting of the ball. We have really gotten the short end lately. We have had series where it should have been 3rd and 3 and its 3rd and 5....because they shafted us twice....Start watching and you will see what I mean...

This was the second targeting no-call where a team (NCS) and now GT committed a blatant targeting penalty on Shipley. Could it be the blind and dumb ACC refs are something more sinister?

I specifically noted the specific time in the video where the play in question occurs.
That’s how people these days know where to find something.

Do not dispute a helmet to helmet hit occurs on almost every play in every game between at least two players on the field. Until helmet technology is improved, IMHO the issue will not be adequately addressed.
And yet many RB's, LB's and safeties from the 1970's, 1980's, 1990's and 00's who delivered and absorbed dozens & hundreds of hits own companies, function fully, and live healthy lives.

if the stadium would have caught the hit in real time we would have gotten the call
it was on the clemson sideline and around the west end zone 40 or so
*** i remember tapping the top of my head saying targeting as the hit happened .the coaches saw it too an decided to just keep going . then the fans saw if as it was shown in the Dabotron as Clemson was lining up for the next snap

It was an illegal hit, but the doctor on the sideline cleared him and the coaches let him back in the game where he did well. His health is important and he will be ready to go against UNC.

It's spilt milk but definitely targeting according to the written rule that forcible contact with the top of the head. Did it go beyond making the play? Targeting is initiating forcible contact against an opponent that “goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball,”.
I believe all this crap people try to read into ref's making or not making calls is just total b.s. I do believe they missed this call though. Certainly does not mean they were paid by someone to miss the call as fans of every stripe love to complain about. The refs have good and bad games just like the players do. Sometimes they really suck. Especially when they miss obvious penalties. When you watch the reply #44 literally snaps his head forward to make it a harder hit with the top of his head. That is going beyond making a legal tackle and it should have been called.

The face mask on the same play. But even more a virus when Putnam had his helmet ripped off right in front of 3 refs and nothing called. Add to that, the Shipley missed call on the field - but then, the replay guys skipped it too.

1:53 if you haven't seen it yet. Clear targeting, yet players get ejected for less while this gets ignored. Player safety "matters", until it doesn't for the ACC apparently.
But there was also NO reason for Dabo to run the next play as fast as he did, tempo be ######. Fight that no call. Call a timeout, get the booth to look at it, get their player ejected. You gotta send a message to other teams you're going to fight for your RB so they better not go after him. Everyone knows they have free rein on Shipley.

Said this right after the play happened
I was livid actually.
The weird thing is, Will obviously got hurt, and it was obviously because he got hit in the head.
I believe this is reason enough to review the play for targeting.
CFB refs are just not to standard level anymore. And they have huge impact on upsets happening nowadays

What?
And well based off of what they’ve deemed as targeting in past games, that one was pretty clear.
No one ever said he meant to hit Will in the head, but it was clearly targeting by the criteria they go with when they review these plays.

Marc Buoniconti was paralyzed from the shoulders down while making a tackle (was called “spearing” back then) for The Citadel during a 1985 game at East Tennessee State. Father, Nick, and son worked to raise more than a half-billion dollars for paralysis research through the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.
Google “Buoniconti citadel” for a great article in the Post and Courier when Nick passed away.

WILL SHIPLEY on the 2 UNCALLED TARGETINGS (w/VIDS)
Nov 14, 2023, 6:16 PM

WILL SHIPLEY 11-14-2023 (links to Targeting Vids below) “…I understand that I chose to play football and it’s violent & very physical. But, I try to protect myself to the Nth degree. And when something like that happens, really the past 2 big ones [NC State + GA Tech], they were direct head-to-head contacts, and not too much I can do about it, getting hit to the back of the head. And so, that’s where you saw the frustration come from: understanding that everybody has a responsibility on the field. For me, it’s laying my life down on the line for my brothers and those people beside me. And for them [REFS], it’s to protect the players on the field”. -------- ——-Here they are: 1.
