About Coach Brownlell and the Tigers and next seasons.

He really needs 1 more year. If you look at the roster and what we will have returning, it would be irrational to get rid of him. I don't like what he has done at Clemson, but he has to have 1 more year.

I just posted earlier that he should be gone, but we might lose our team if he bolts. Will they stay for the new coach? If they would, I would be all for a new coach. I am kind of the fence looking at the roster.

Have you not seen most of our young players transfer out at the end of the season to be replaced with transfers with 1 to 2 years of eligibility left?

in the exact same manner, even within the most competitive programs I would agree that it is a problem under CBB.

I haven't wanted him gone for years. I even wanted him gone 15 minutes ago. I just looked at the roster and was thinking the coach might not have those players. WHo knows? All I know is it is an experience talented group. There is some potential there. They will generally be upperclassmen.

To be honest, I would be thrilled to see him go. I was thinking he could have a good season next year. The danger of that is we may stuck with him for 5 dud seasons in a row after because they keep him around.

OK, but rinse and repeat goes only so far...
We have been rinsing and repeating for 100+ years by cycling through coaches hoping that a new coach will change the dynamic but guess what? It never happens.
We always get one of three coaches: a Rick Barnes type who takes the first train out as its to hard/unpredictable to expect extended success at Clemson or a Shyatt type who falls flat or a Tates Locke or Cliff Ellis who stay in NC2A trouble.
So get rid of of CBB if you want but bookmark this thread and watch what happens. CU is not a destination job for basketball so coaches do not treat it as such.

5 of those kids will transfer and we will bring in 5 more.
CBB does need 1 more year, just at a different school.

I want him gone too, but those are some good ones. Maybe the ones we need stay? I guess we have to start sometime though. I am definitely sick of him.

Based on Neff’s comments yesterday

You’re going to get your wish. But after next year goes like this year, the talking point will be that his buyout is too large for just a season or two so let him finish out his deal. Then Brownell lovers will say he didn’t succeed because he didn’t get extensions and you need those to recruit. It’s a never ending robbery of joy. Someone needs to explain to Neff that a new coach doesn’t have to draw the attention of the ncaa. We can find someone both competent AND who follows the rules.

We have someone who is competent and follows the rules but you dont like him so what then? Do you think a coach who follows the rules will make Clemson a big winner in Basketball? And if it does happen how long will he last at our school? We keep changing a single variable, actually the same variable and expect different results. Perhaps pull a different switch?

Maybe you haven’t watched the games, but anyone who has seen the decision making towards the end of games this year would not use the word “competent” to describe our coaching.
And instead of having a great coach and have him maybe leave early for another school you’d rather stick with not ever making the tournament and being not fun to watch? That’s like dating a 2 because a solid 7 might cheat on you. Have some confidence in yourself. Clemson is amazing and I firmly believe a great coach could make a home here. This isn’t the Rick Barnes era. We’ve made commitments to the basketball program unlike we ever have before.
But again, doesn’t matter bc Neff only cares about compliance from basketball. Results mean nothing.

Nah...I actually want him gone. I didn't see a couple key guys leaving. He needs to go. It's a waste to keep him around.

How many years did he get a pass for on that fateful day, Jan 11 2020?
Breaking that 0-59 streak had to get him a set of steak knives if not a few bonus years on his contract.

That’s speculation at best. Have you not seen how many transfers (out of the program) we have every year?

Year 13 on the near horizon. With Tyson's injury now it's almost certain Brad will be back. Can't sack him after losing a key player 'down the stretch' like that. Just wouldn't be 'fair'.

Yes, it’s like the wife who stages her own kidnapping and leaves a ransom note only to find that her husband doesn’t really care.
He will offer a token reward and will appear suitably distraught for tv and the press, but underneath it all, he is happy she’s gone. He has his real lover. Football.
Honestly Clemson AD is the husband and basketball is the wife.
Think about it.
