A disucssion on Clemson vs UVA - tonight's game

Let's go Tigers! One game at a time.

The @UVA game was not well played by Clemson and resulted in a loss that the final score was not really indicative of how the second half really went. Clemson got down by double digits with around 12 min to go and was down by 10 with 3 minutes or so to go. They did cut it to 4 with under 2 min. So the fight came late.

What was Clemson going wrong early and for most of the second half?
Total stats at ends of the game show the following:
- Clemson shot 41.8% from the floor to UVA's 40.7%
- Clemson shot 31.8% from 3PT to UVA's 26.3% - CU shot better 2nd half than 1st half
- Clemson made 4 of 5 total FTs to UVA's 15-22 - DING DING DING - a reason

My Four Things that Clemson must do to beat UVA:
1. Do not fall in love with the 3PT shot early.
Drive to the basket. Get ball into the paint. Try to get some fouls while going to the basket. Make UVA make mistakes.

2. Clemson's guards must handle the pressure that UVA will put on Clemson's guards as they start to cross halfcourt.
I am glad NC State did what they did last night in terms of pressuring the guards dribbling up the court. The Hunter Guards got some practice.

3. Must eliminate dumb mistakes.
Beadle has to play better when he is in. Passes must be smarter and crisper. No lazy auto-passes to be picked off.

4. Disrupt UVA early. Get them out of their offensive rthymn.
I think it will be interesting to see what CBB does in this game. I think this game has a chance to be a reflection of how well CBB can strategically adjust and coach a game vs a team that they lost to recently and did not meet the moment in Charlottesville.

Let's go Tigers. UVA will be prepared, and I think they will do what they did in Charlottesville. So how will Clemson be prepared for it? And interestingly, will Clemson have something "new" for UVA?
