2020 Early enrollees - starters? contributors?

Can’t wait for Spring Football
Who starts? I say Bresee Murphy and Capehart all eventually make 1st team ... maybe Bresee from the 1st game..
Who gets decent playing time? Davis, Bowman, Mickens,Tchio, Mayes, Tucker
That’s my opinion based on needs and talent-
What does everyone else think?
2020 Early Enrollees:
Bryan Bresee, 5-star DL Myles Murphy, 5-star DE DJ Uiagalelei, 5-star QB Demarkcus Bowman, 5-star RB Demonte Capehart, 5-star DT Fred Davis II, 5-star DB Trenton Simpson, 4-star LB EJ Williams, 4-star WR RJ Mickens, 4-star DB Paul Tchio, 4-star OL Mitchell Mayes, 4-star OL Sergio Allen, 4-star LB Kevin Swint, 4-star LB Bryn Tucker, 4-star OL Sage Ennis, 3-star TE Tyler Venables, 3-star DB

On could argue D.J. makes 2nd team... He’s that talented- but it would be great to save him for the future...

Mayes and tucker have a long way to go to even sniff playing time in valuable snaps. Both aren’t as good as their ranking suggests

post history, and it is pretty much 100% negative.
Give us your background detail as to what makes Mayes and Tucker so far from valuable snaps. Where did/do you coach? How many years of experience do you have evaluating players?
I guess all the paid professionals need to dial you up prior offering a scholarship.
Again, if you can't give us the specific areas these players are weak, your comments mean nothing.

While I do think Mayes and Tucker will play and get some great snaps, I have a feeling Walker Parks will contribute more that the other two. Only speculation I have for this is because Walker was holding his own very well against Brian Bresee in the Rivals camp or one of those camps.
I hope Mayes and Tucker perform and learn quickly when enrolling early. Mayes reminds me a lot of Tyrone Crowder. Unbelievably strong but needs to cut some of the bad weight and I think a spring and summer will do him wonders if he stays focused.

No one really knows, nor will they know until Dabo announces the starting lineup just before the first game this fall.

Maybe Bresee could start but Davis certainly has one of the DT spots and I would think Pinckney has the other with Williams as a backup. Idk who starts on the other side of DK so possible see Fred Davis start if he is good enough. I think it will be between Jones, Goodrich, and Booth tho. I have no clue who starts at Safety so maybe Mickens gets some PT. Turner probably but who starts beside him? Gonna he interesting to see how LB spots go as well as Safety. Maybe a freshman can battle for one of them. I think Simpson has a chance to make the 2 deep but we have some dang good redshirt freshman and Jones is solid.

I have been a recruiting junkie since the mid 80's and Bresee is one the most college ready players I've ever seen. He should be a day one starter.

I personally don't think any start, but I do think you see several in two deep. Breese is probably most ready, but I don't think he's going to be ahead of Pinckney and Davis. He will almost definitely start year 2. I posted a 2 deep a few days ago, just the way that I see it. Mickens may have a shot, but i think Charleston and Zanders are probably in better position right now. The spot vacated by Simmons is interesting to watch with Jones/Phillips/Thornton...maybe there is an opportunity there for a hybrid guy. I think Bowman's snaps will increase as the year goes on. He certainly has an opportunity to compete with Dixon for the snaps behind ETN.

The depth at DT is really exciting. To be able to rotate Pinckney, Davis, Williams and Bresee is going to be elite! Capehart is also going to be really good sooner than later. We haven't even been mentioning Tre who has a high ceiling. Plus there are several guys from last years class who will have opportunities over the next several years. I'll be interested to see if guys like Ruke or Reuben or Tayquan Johnson can find a way into the mix or if maybe Ruke moves outside to form a tandem with Murphy.

Who I think will start or at least contribute significant snaps... OL - Walker Parks OT and Paul Tchio G QB - DJU RB - Bowman WR - none(Both should redshirt) DL -Bresee and Murphy LB - Simpson CB - none S - Mickens or Greene
We are very deep at most positions with Rs FR, Soph and Jrs so I think Dabo will try to redshirt as many as possible in this class.

Agreed. Too thin at DB. Worries me much more than the OL.

DL and DE starters are irrelevant - we should be rolling them in 3 deep next year in various combinations. Probably see the same thing at LB too. Lots of numbers. WR is what concerns me - not sure if EJ will break in. TE should be an actual strength next year.

Why the WR Concern?
Jan 19, 2020, 1:55 PM
|

We are losing 2 of our top 8.
A slight drop POSSIBLY, but we could be better with healthy Ross and Rodgers. If it is a concern - Williams plays.

I like the four-game redshirt rule. Sometimes a young player looks good in practice but appears lost in a true game. On the other hand, some don't show out in practice but appear to grasp the fundamentals in a real game. If our 5***** recruits don't exhibit their potential in a game, I will be disappointed. We are now establishing depth all across the board so this helps in determining those players who would benefit from a redshirt year.

I think EJ Williams is going to play. Higgins and Overton are gone. Powell and/or Chase could transfer. Ajou will probably redshirt, but I think Williams will definitely play and very possibly in the two deep.
Ross/Ladson Ngata/Williams Rodgers/Powell or Spector

Good point made on D line rotation- even still I think Bresee starts.. He’s shown out at all the “all star“ events- Really seems like the DL equivalent of Trevor Lawrence - Physically looks ready to go...
You guys remember when we had to recruit a bunch of 3 star linemen and watch them develop through strength and conditioning?
It’s a whole different world right now for Clemson recruiting...

Simpson is a 5 star.. I see all of the DL getting significant snaps they have 4 games to play in. So they will use them as much as they can before making the decisions when to shut them down. I think Bresee avoids redshirt for sure and possibly Capehart due to their size and game. We need big boys in the middle with speed. I'm glad they enrolled early to get their bodies in shape for the spring. Its crazy all but one 5 start are early enrollees. I think Booth or Jones will take the other DB spot and we will go back to the defensive scheme we had last year. I'm hoping Simpson can play that Isaiah Simmons role but that is some big shoes to fill.
