The Farce known as the CFP Committee

Must go.
Why not bring back an agreed upon BCS style ranking, weight it 2/3s and weight the human committee 1/3.
There is WAY too much bias in the system towards a single conference.

i think the bias comes from ap and coach rankings

prior to the initial rankings..id be lying if i ignored 9 beating a coaches poll ranked number 2 one week..i think the coaches and ap poll taints the process..let them start ranking them via committee week 6 from scratch

way-too-early, pre-season, ongoing AP and UPI polls and especially ESPN's input...and there is a cacophony of voices across the nation with the same attitude.

This is absolutely the problem. Preseason rankings are meaningless, except they aren't. They somewhat arbitrarily attach these numbers to teams so they can advertise #X vs #Y for TV, but nobody knows if those numbers are accurate until the teams actually start playing. And there's no revision when we find out they aren't. You still beat a top 5 team in week 1 even if said top 5 team has 5 losses by November, and that still factors into your later rankings. The SEC might very well be the best conference in college football, but a huge part of that perception is the fact that half of the teams start off ranked, and then they all just beat each other. They need to do away with rankings all together until week 7, but it'll never happen because the corporate guys think that they'll somehow lose lose money because they matchups don't have the numbers attached.

They listen to Paul and the other ESPN goons too often. They apparently rate the SEC higher just because they are the ESPN favored children. The SEC is not all that great other than in their own minds. Their schedules are no tougher than anyone in the ACC.
We can only hope that some weak team like UofSuc might beat one of their best in their house with a 3rd string QB, and that might wake them up. Oh wait...

Please be serious, the SEC has a top and bottom like them all, but Alabama, LSU, Georgia , Florida and even Auburn are very good teams... we need some teams to step up. If your honest with yourself, you know the ACC is weak this year.

The SEC is the best conference. They have more quality teams. They have some bad ones as well, but their top 6 are better than any other conferences top 6.

Did you seriously just advocate bringing back the BCS system

The BCS system was the one thing all college football fans could agree on, in that it was universally hated.

That was because of only 2 teams - not the rankings method.
Debate between 2 & 3 team much different than 4 & 5.

The old BCS computers has:
1. Ohio State 2. LSU 3. Clemson 4. Georgia 5. Penn State 6. Alabama 7. Oregon 8. Utah 9. Oklahoma 10. Michigan
14. Minnesota
33. Virginia who is the next highest ranked ACC after Clemson.
That would be better how exactly?

If anything, this committee is reflecting modern computer metrics much more than the previous committees and i think that's the part that's pissing most of the people here off.

Not saying better, but sheds some the bias element.
However at least above does not have 3 SEC teams In top 5. So by that metric it IS better.

What, exactly is the other 2/3?

If you think some computer rankings would be more favorable to Clemson and respect things like A beat B so A must be ranked higher than B, think again.

IMHO,
Only the four best Power 5 conference champions with the best record should get in the playoff. No Bias, no man made decisions. Let the teams earn their way in just like ever modern day sport that I know of...
Options for Tie Breaker and CFP seeding 1. Total offense yrds / Total Defensive yrds allowed 2. Or just Total defense yrds allowed (Eliminates teams running up the score) Also, have another playoff for the non-Power5 conference champions with the best records so they get some TV money.

BCS was a bigger farce. You don't need 6 closed-source

programs. You just need one good open-source program.
It's always going to be a farce as long as TV (read money, money, and more money) has a say.
