It is difficult to be reaaly good at football & Bball

at the same time so here is my question:
Would you give up one victory in football each season if it meant that we would win 5 more games in basketball ?

I'd say it's a dumb question because the two sports

Aren't related. Therefore a question asking to "give up a win" in one sport does not, will not, can not ever effect the other. Why you siding with this dumb questioner?

Your whole premise is flawed

Auburn, Minnesota, Ohio State, Tennessee, Florida, ND, Stanford , Baylor, Oregon , Memphis just to name a few who are good programs in both sports. It’s not difficult. It just takes commitment at all all levels starting with the BOT and filtering down to the fans. We don’t have that level of commitment at any level.

I notice there are no ACC schools in the list you posted. FSU probably is the closest to being a contender if their football program can get back to the top. Ask the same question to some schools. Would they give up a few basketball wins for an additional football win.

Well an ACC school would have to have a good football program in order for them to be on the list. That isn’t the case right now. Looking at football programs over time I would include FSU, Miami and Va Tech as being aspirational in football and basketball. Much more so than us. Our “don’t care, won natty” crowd is an obstacle to a real commitment to basketball . I can assure you that I am an exception and would love to see us strive to be in the tournament every couple of years.

the last 10 years and be just as good as we have been in football. No reason whatsoever we can't.

Just because it is difficult doesn't mean that we

shouldn't strive for it (not suggesting that you were saying otherwise).
To answer your question, it depends on how our football team is doing. If that one loss means that we go from a playoff team to a non-playoff team, then I would not make that trade.
If the one football loss doesn't keep us from winning the ACC Championship or making the playoffs, then I would make that trade all day because it would likely mean an NCAA Tournament appearance in basketball.

No way!!!!!! A football loss could keep us out of the playoff. 5 more bball wins probably still doesn't get the team that far.

Don't tell Florida that. When Tebow and Chris Leak won the NC in football, I think Billy Donovan was either winning the NC in BBall or in the Final Four. They also had a dang good bball team after that using one of our assistant coaches.
Bottom line: It can be done, but not many schools do it.

in any sport, so I'm not prepared to accept one in FB for the sake of BB......a retrograde IMO.
Rather, I support wholehearted commitment to our BB program whether Coach Brownell remains a part or not. And on that question I have my own opinion.
