I am excited about our men's basketball team this year.

While it is hard to replace longstanding starters (and stars) like Chase Hunter and Ian Schieffelin, I think our staff has done a great job getting some impact transfer players. We obtained some really good portal talent, especially in the frontcourt, but in the backcourt as well.
I also expect some of our younger guys, especially Buckner and Foster, to help us in meaningful ways this year.
We seem to have a lot of depth. We will obviously find out just how deep we are as the season progresses, but a lack of depth has hurt us recently as players wear down. The hope is that we can rotate players regularly without much of a drop off. This should pay dividends in hard-fought games, especially in February and March.
Some positives:
-Depth
-Talent at every position
-Good athleticism
-A nice mix of veterans and younger players
Question marks:
-Outside shooting (can we be consistent?)
-Go-to guy (who gets us a bucket to end a run or win the game late?)
This team, though full of new players, has great chemistry. I am excited to see them continue to grow as a group. This will be a fun year!

Dillon Hunter was only a 61% FT shooter last year. Yikes.
Jestin Porter was 82% though.
RJ Godfrey was 61% last year. Yikes
Butta Johnson is 86% though.
Jake Wahlin 66% last year...weak.
Nick Davidson 69.9% last year..so 70% ..meh.
Carter Welling 64% last year. Pretty weak.
Yeah we have some issues unless freshman come on stong or the older ones miraculously change.

Typically transfers that come in and start improve their shooting numbers. Let's hope that trend continues!

YW. I watched it again. Chase Thompson all though didn't score or shot the ball, played well rebounding passing and defense. Expect him to have a pretty good game tonight.

I think we’ll be good this year, but I’m really excited to see how the freshmen develop over this year and the future. Ace Buckner looked amazing, Dallas Thomas and Chase Thompson have potential, and you can tell Zac Foster is going to be a star

Thanks judge. As I've posted, Ace is my breakout player this season. Much like sChief was when pj went down.
It's also nice to see we'll have homegrown talent on the floor. Yes, I count Godfrey as homegrown.
Can definitely see Nick and Godfrey just get in beast mode and dominate a game. Anxious to see what Butta can do.

Don't forget tonight's game is on the ACCN. Looking forward to keeping up with Kansas at UNC on ESPN tonight also.
BTW, recent hoops commit Amare James' HS team Wheeler was ranked #5 in the country. Yes, the country. He is going to get a lot of exposure playing on that team as a starter for the first time. He plays with at least a few HM prospects including one probably going to UConn. He will play against great competition and could go up the rankings during the season. See link:

Jay Bilas isn't. His article says BB cobbled together a team with 3-star recruits and mid-major transfers. Not a recipe for a return to the NCAAT. BB definitely won't win the ACCT.

Because of the number of automatic bids to mid-major champions. And I do not believe Clemson will finish 5th or higher in the ACC. Anyone want to predict an ACCT championship for BB? How about 2 wins in this season's ACCT?

There are plenty of questions but I don't think depth will be an issue. As mentioned, not sure if there is star or #1 go to player. Shooting both 3 and free, left something to be desired, but they have potential to be a very solid all around team this year. Go Tigers!

I am excited about Godfrey returning. I really liked him when he was here before. Gives us some muscle in the paint.
I hope we can be more consistent shorting the ball, especially our guards. That has been an issue for a while.

Don't ever see you trolling or semi-trolling Brad and the men's bb team when things go wrong and don't work out the way we had hoped which happens a lot:
- almost every ACC tourney
- almost every NIT tourney
- every other NCAA tourney
- inexplicable losses to bad teams (4-28 UL in 2023 which probably kept CU out of the NCAAT)
- etc.

After watching this game my biggest question mark is who is going to run the offense? Dillon can't be the only true point and I'm not sure he's a true point. We will get swarmed if we can't run half court with minimal turnovers. Guards are the key. Just bc we have 4 doesn't mean they will be able to function when the going gets tough... And it will.

I think Zac Foster and Ace Foster are just as good as Dillon playing PG. Only had 4 turnovers total tonight and 25 assists.
I would start Ace Buckner with Dillon soon if he keeps producing like he has the last few days. He had +35 when in the game.

I feel a lot better after watching Brad's press conference. Loved his response to the Morehead question. We'll get an even better idea after next week's games. It'll take a while to get his rotation, but we have a lot of options to match up with other teams. Exciting team.
