now. You only get to experience the "first classes" of a new program ONCE. That is where we are right now with the Women's Softball program at Clemson. How quickly the program became competitive, from Day One, essentially, just tells you how much talent there was around that wanted to attend Clemson, but went elsewhere initially because there WAS no softball option here.

And, it obviously didn't hurt to jump right out of the gate with a bona fide superstar All American, in the person of Valerie Cagle. Coach Rittman really had a golden horseshoe in his pocket when he signed her. Then, you also have gals on the team with ebullient personalities. How can you not love the ultra competitive, yet playful fire that Millie Thompson exudes? I call that "contagious enthusiasm".

These women, right now, are writing history at Clemson. Twenty, thirty years from now, they will be celebrated as THE cornerstones of a program that stood tall, and soared from the very start. Enjoy this ride. It only happens once in the history of a program. I only wish I lived anywhere close to Clemson now. I would be in the stands every game, marveling at Val's dual threat pitching / hitting prowess, or waiting for Millie to break out the Viking Helmet or the Head Surgical Glove to bring on a rally.

Well done, first classes. Well done. And the best part, they are NOT done yet, by a long shot.

McKenzie Clark is a real treat also

Fastest bat on the team, packs a punch for a smaller girl! Had 3 homers in one game at FSU and has been on a hot streak as late.

Yes, and she rivals, if not surpasses brewer with her dazzling athleticism in center field. Too bad the salaries are so low for professional softball or she'd make a good living as would Val.

And it's fast. Umps don't mess around getting batter and pitcher to speed play.

Baseball is driving me crazy with all the glove adjustments, getting signs etc. Now we have the pitchers checking their manhood each pitch.

Wish I could give more TUs just for checking their manhood every pitch! Great line!

Glad to read about the success. Seems like our girls really have it rolling in the right direction.
