And then it got smoke the very next year by Ohio State and the Sugar Bowl.
As a matter of fact he got smoked a couple of years in 2018 by South Carolina and Texas A&M, but we had an offense it could bail out those games.

The top passing QB and the two top receivers in the NFL. Clemson DB's especially Terrell could not cover them.

Trevor had an off night, Elliott stopped feeding Etienne in the second half, and the defense ran out of gas trying to stop the greatest college offense of all time.

Don't be idiotic....BV wasn't even on the coaching radar until Dabo brought him in. He was sharing responsibilities with Stoops' brother

It's short sighted to think any single player or coach was "behind those Nattys." And arguing any single one was responsible does a disservie to the others

I hope we get another National Title. Absent that in any given year I hop eBrent's team gets one.
But in either of those situations it won't be due to a single coach or player.

I think we saw that the thinking and scheming may be able to be replicated, but the fire was hard to reproduce.
He definitely was a huge part of the titles (as were 2 generational QBs, a head coach who installed the culture, a defensive line that dominated, etc).
I just think it's short sighted to say any single person was "behind" the titles.

You don’t know football if you didn’t know it was the players. I don’t see any deahuan’s , trevors, etns, mike williams, tee higgins on offense. Not even going tongo into the defense. Covid killed us with no visits first slip. Nil killed us with top players want paid top money. I constantly hear we have plenty of money but we don’t use it. I can’t believe that our coaches would not take the easy way of recruiting and write a check.

Nike, none of us doubt BV's contributions to our success; however, without Dabo
Nov 15, 2025, 8:07 PM

there wouldn't have been BV on our sidelines.
What you're saying is no different than saying you don't know war, if you thought Eisenhower was behind our victory in Europe...It was always (you pick one of his top subordinates.) Our victory was due to the sum total of superior leadership and heroic efforts of our troops, all led by Ike. Our nattys were due to the same...all led by Dabo.
Lastly, despite what any say history will record that it was one each Coach Dabo Swinney at the helm when we won those two natties, and he will be honored therefrom...as well as he should be!

What a ridiculous post. Number one, why was it not Tony Elliott? Number two, Dabo hired both TE and BV so he drove the bus. Number three, what the heck difference does it make any way?
