It's amazing how some take things and twist them.
As I stated many times in the previous thread, what these guys done was stupid and immature. Horrible...and idiotic.
But with that being said...the point I'm trying to make is.....
The media will take this garbage and run with it. Thus creating more and more racial tension. It's ridiculous! But some of you, like the media want to crucify these kids.
Let me ask this question. If these were black males singing a song about killing white people.....would it make national news? I think you know the answer to that.
Making racial slurs aganist white folks seem to be ok in this country....even our local radio guy diptoola makes statements about pasty white guys....says inappropriate things like that and obviously it's ok.
In conclusion, what those guys did was horrible.....but the news stirring this garbage up is uncalled for. Trust me when i say they love this racial tension. Whites vs blacks and blacks vs whites.

I do believe that the media would make a big deal if this was a group of black guys singing about killing white people. There's no doubt that the media leans left and they love to race bait, especially when dealing with white on black controversies...but above all else they're sensationalist. They'll milk anything they can for a story.

Perhaps pick a better story to plead your "the media is blowing this out of proportion" case with than one in which a group of drunken buffoons sing about how they'll never accept back folks in their midst and would rather see them lynched.
Think of it as picking your battles. Your premise that the media blows things out of proportion is a valid point to argue (though I might also add that you did much the same thing in arguing anyone here has said anything close to "crucify them"), but this is not the test case to use to make your point.
To me it's painfully simple:
1) A group of drunken folks sing in unison a song about killing black folks
2) Someone films and releases it
3) The organization they represented comes out and says "Nope, you're done, goodbye"
4) The school says "Nope, no more of that group"
5) The media reports those things
Now, of course some folks in the media (and folks outside the media) will editorialize it and make points you or I don't agree with. But in this case these guys brought this on themselves, and you have nothign to feel ashamed for in their actions. If you do feel ashamed that's on you, but I don't, and if I did I wouldn't be blaming the media for that feeling

Looks to me like Black Americans are burned out from years of poverty/low paying menial labor, broken homes, and drugs. White Americans are frightened that they are losing their hold on their traditional roles (meaning the last 300 years) in North American culture.

I gotta agree with you on this one; while it is entirely accruate to suggest that the media routinely and deliberately emblishes things of this nature for the sake of viewership, in this particular case, these insensitive and biggoted dolts brought this on themselves, and they fully deserve the consequences they will ultimately face.

Honestly it's completely and totally possible to condemn both.
It's possible to both acknowledge that black on black crime is alarmingly prevalent, and also point out that these bozos at OK seem to be perfectly alright with gleefully singing racist ditties.
There is zero reason to argue that one has anything to do with the other, or to pretend either one exists while the other doesn't.

Listen Golong, you continue to preach about this double standard that the media has against black vs white and vice versa. And you would be right about that to some degree. There are certain things black people say that would get you fired if a white person said. However I will try to educate you on the rationale of why these double standards exist!
1. HISTORY. Black people in this country were enslaved, raped, whipped, burned alive and murdered in
the good ol USA LEGALLY!!! for 350 years. Then another 100 years of Jim Crowe
oppression. Things really didn't get to be "Equal" until around 1965 when the Civil
rights bill was passed.
Therefore you have 450 years of one race that did not have a voice or even a an equal life in this country. So finally when things start to even out there is a double standard. Just let that sink in for a moment. 450 years of being legally treated like a crap less than a dog. So yeah...when you finally have a voice there is going to be a double standard.
Many white people who here these facts roll their eyes and get tired of hearing it....but could you imagine Living it. Facts are Facts.

I agree, this can be sensationalized...but isn't that true for anything that the media talks about? I have seen the media sensationalize things dealing every ethnicity. Should we not focus on the fact that this is a case where it happened, no speculation needed. Furthermore, repairing the damage..mostly to OU's reputation.
It is my hopes that these young men find more constructive ways to voice either their displeasure with certain races or be more clandestine if they choose not to change their thoughts and/or rhetoric.
Personally, I have little tolerance for anyone of any race spewing violent rhetoric towards a group...that includes some strands of hip hop. By the way, I have seen Black Greek organizations kicked off campus for lesser violations.
