Was at the game and saw this large.gray plane coming from east to west for the flyover. this thing was massive and seemed in slow motion..... anyone able to positive ID the model of aircraft...it was great!!!!

Google up the stall speed of the C-17 with flaps and gear deployed and that's about what they'd be doing for a slow pass. It's probably a little north of 100 kts.

One of my partners is into military airplanes but not football. When the C-17 flew over his house he went on line and found that its Squawk was turned on. The attached photo shows its flight information. It flew out of Pittsburgh.

I wouldn't be a Clemson grad if it weren't for that aircraft. I had no family ties to Clemson or the state of South Carolina until my father was stationed at Charleston AFB as part of the SATAF for the first C-17s. He stayed in the area after his 20yrs of service and eventually worked with Boeing as a civil contractor on the base for another 10yrs.
The C-17 has about 70% of the C-5's load capacity, but with much shorter takeoff and landing distances.

Looks like the lowest they got was 131 knots GS and 2400 ft. MSL you can look at their tracklog
on Flightaware.com

I reviewed the data. They actually flew over the stadium at about 1700 feet MSL ( about 1000 AGL) and at about 150Knots. They made a circle E of the stadium at 2400 MSL at about 130 knots.

C-17 out of Charleston base. They flew many of the missions to evac Americans from Afghanistan.

I was just in awe that something that large could ever get off the ground and stay in the air. I mean I have heard of C-17s and knew they were big but its totally different to see it fly overhead. Amazing.

on a very regular basis. they were transitioning from the C-141 to C-17. Delivery to the USAF was at Long Beach. Flight crews would jump on the early AM flight through CLT and out to LAX, in their flight suits, get picked up and shuttled to LB and then ferry the C-17 back to CHS all in the same day. made for a long day.

I used to LOVE the F-16's that flew over just as the Star Spangled Banner was finishing up. It was an absolute display of power and might and shook the whole stadium. It was like they were telling us to enjoy ourselves that they have our back and are keeping us safe. I would get a lump in my throat every time.

Those things come up Warwoman Valley in North Georgia frequently and rattle our cabin severely. If we are outside, it is an imposing sight as we sometimes actually look down on them as they fly by. It is crazy how they can fly so slowly and remain aloft!
