I keep seeing we're down a starter and key reserve

From what I recall Hemenway was a liability when he returned from injury last year.
Is Jack Clark really a starter? We're talking about a guy that averaged 9pts per game last year on a team we beat like a drum 3 times.
Edit to include when I say is Jack Clark really a starter, I'm asking should he be a starter? Of course I know he was starting early in the season. Should've worded it different.

It's just typical of the Brownlee apologists. There's always an excuse. Always. Personally, I've had enough after 13 years of mediocrity. Haven't you?

I played, both my sons play (at a much higher level than I did, I might add)....but yes, apparently I'm just a knuckle-dragging footbawl guy who doesn't understand the intricacies and nuances of Brownlee's game.

I consider NIT bounce less than mediocre. 11-2 right now but I've seen enough Brad to know this can easily hit 23-11 again sneak into a first 4 game loss but a contract extension. Then followed up with 16-18 type season the next year.

That the good teams in the ACC met or exceeded expectations in the post season does not negate the argument that the conference was weak as a whole.

Our administration cares about postseason play as well as the regular season, academics, and community involvement.
Neff acknowledged that we had a great year and deserved an NCAA Tournament berth. Many national analysts agreed. You are welcome to disagree, of course.

10 out of 229 brackets on Bracket Matrix included Clemson. Most basketball “analysts” publish a bracket. 4% thought Clemson deserved to be in last year. Anything said otherwise was just filling airtime.

You consider 11-2 so far this year with an outstanding performance against quad 1 teams mediocre?
Just give Brad time to eff it up. The season is still early. A loss to UNC this weekend will have people waking back up to reality.

That could be a good point. We held Bama to 34% FG and 31% 3PT shooting when they have shot 49% FG and and 39% 3PT shooting for the seasons. Except you’re aren’t really a good person to make that argument since, in your constant defense of Brownell rather than basketball focused critique, you’ve chosen in the past to credit shooting performance as pure happenstance.

There's a lot of teams in the top 25 that wish they had a top 8. I'm not upset with losing as that's basketball, I'm just upset with how we lost the game.

Im sure you didnt watch the early games, but he was a starter on our team when he was playing.
He was also a starter on an ncaa tourney team last year and averaged 9 points and 7 boards per game. He has great size and can guard 2-5.
He will be an asset when he comes back.

Chauncey is now starting in his place.
Hemenway is a key reserve in that he's one of the best shooters in the country. Teams have to respect his shot. He also has a lot of experience and understands what we are doing.
Hope that helps.

Lmao. Another big time L for viztiz.
In hemenway's career, he is 124-289 from 3 which is good for 42.9%.
If he maintains this percentage for the rest of the year, that would put him as the 63rd best 3 point shooter in the ncaa since 1992 with over 200 attempts.
It would make him the 2nd best 3 point shooter as a percentage in the ACC since 1992. Jk was actually being modest.
any other questions?

and a defensive liability.
How do you get from 5 points per game to "one of the best shooters in the country?"
Wooga Poplar, on the other hand, is the #2 3 point shooter in the country by percentage. He is Miami's 2nd leading scorer, averaging over 16 points per game, and top 3 point shooting threat making 30 of 60 for 50% so far this year.
He missed the game last night.

It’s a minimum of 200 made (not attempts) AND 2.0 3PT/Game (Average). He’s made 124. He would need to make 76 more before the end of the season. Lets say he appears in 22 more games (which seems exceptionally generous) he would need to average 3.5 a game to hit the 200 mark. But he would still fall well short of the 2.0 requirement (1.7). It’s nearly mathematically impossible for him to make the list you are so casually trying to include him in.

Ok so i misread. It still doesnt mean he's not one of the best shooters in the country. He is a career 42.9% 3 point shooter. But whatever. If you want to bash our players than go right ahead!

Yes misread in your zeal to make an assertion that isn’t true and you’re doubling down. There is a reason they put those limitations in place - because below those thresholds the numbers of players gets too large. Without those caveats Alex Hemenway only ranks in the top 100 for 3PT % in a season once - https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/player-stat/three-point-field-goal-percentage. That means, over his career, he would be roughly the 91st best 3 pt shooter in the NCAA by percentage. If you want to reframe your argument as to why he’s “one of the best shooters in the country” feel free. But so far you have provided false information to support and, after being corrected, have not supplemented your argument in any way.

Unreal that you dont believe a career 42.9% 3pt shooter is not elite.

Unreal that you’re defining 91st (At best - I gave him credit as 101st for the 4 years he isn’t even ranked) over his 5 year period as “elite”. I’m giving you facts and you’re replying with emotion and hyperbole. Because your actual assertion is unsustainable.

Your bs is so nauseating. If you dont think it is elite for a player to shoot 42.9% over a 5 year career with over 200 attempts then you truly dont know anything about college basketball.
Literally not a single top player on this list has sustained these percentages for multiple years. Also, no ian scheif on the list who is 8-14. Do you believe the schieff is a much better shooter than hemenway? I guess oglesby wasnt that great either.
After this i am done with your nonsense.
From your list:
Otega owhea: 13-18 this year. He went 1-4 last year
Steven crowl: 11-16 this year. He shot 30% (27-88) last year and 31% (26-82) the year before that.
Will tschetter:14-22 this year and 5-20 last year
Aj sheldon: 15-26 this year and 7 for 23 last year.
Josh ola joseph: 12-21 this year and 8-21 last year
Sean east: 21-37 this year and 15-68 last year
Tyem freeman: 13-23 this year and 11-44 the 2 years prior
Julian larry: 14-25 this year and 37-105 (35%) the 3 years prior
Devin ree: 15-27 this year and 2-11 last year
Chase cormier: 26-47 this year and 13-43 last year
Tamar bates: 16 of 29 this year. 54- 156 the prior 2 years.
Blair thompson: 22-40 this year and 32-105 last year.

And i lied. One more comment.
Alex hemenway has gone 124-289 (42.9%) in his career. The 3pt attempts he has taken in his career is slightly more than a good 3pt shooter takes in a season if they are healthy and start every game. Roughly the same sample size, except for hemenway has been consistent for 5 years. Again, if you dont think he is an elite shooter, then you are clueless.
Below are the acc leaders in 3pt % for each year
2022: hunter catoor: 78-184 42.4% 2021: brady manek: 98-243 40.3% 2020: sam hauser: 63-151 41.7% 2019: buddy boeheim: 97-262. 37% 2018: cam johnson: 96-210 45.7% WOW 2017: gary trent: 97-241 40.3% 2016: andrew white: 112-278 40.3% 2015: greyson allen: 90-216. 41.7% 204: quinn cook: 102-258 39.5%

This is why your side of this debate draws so much vitriol. You are being dishonest and you know it. You first presented a stat claiming that Hemenway would not only be elite but possibly an all-time great ACC 3 point shooter. You completely misinterpreted the ranking you referenced to make that assertion. Rather than apologize or let it lie, you ignored it and doubled down on the assertion.
Then, I showed that by 3 pt percentage alone only 1 of his 5 seasons would even qualify as top 100 by percentage for that season, and that the one that did would be 17th. This does not add up to the historically elite premise you are espousing.
Again, rather than concede, you try to compare his entire body of work against the single season efforts of ACC percentage leaders. It should not have to be explained that this is a completely disingenuous argument. Your argument is that his career 3 pt percentage is “elite”. You need to find a complete list of career three point percentages and see where he ranks. I have debunked your previous assertions. Your current one is apples to oranges. I’m not going to manually compute when I know, if his 5 year average is 91st for that time period, his historical average is not going to be elite.
No matter how many irrelevant stats or insults you throw out, you are wrong.

It's harder to remain consistent over the course of 5 years. It's more impressive that his numbers are so good over the course of his career rather than having 1 or 2 good seasons percentage wise. Also suring the season he played the most, he shot the best %.
This is why most of the best 3 point shooters dont have a career 3 point shooting percentage of of 42.9%
The fact is that when hemenway is on the court, he has shot an elite 3 point %. Sorry that hurts you so much.

Then back it up with stats - actual apples to apples stats. You’re pretending there is no difference between situational shooters with limited playing time and primary offensive weapons. You ridicule the bulk of our fanbase and present such a blatantly ridiculous argument. At this point, I assume you’re just trying to bait me into saying something bad about Hemenway. But saying a good player isn’t all-time elite isn’t an insult. And you’re only arguing it to stir the pot. You know you have no point.

Miami was missing their best player. A 50% 3 point shooter

who has made more 3 pointers than anyone on their team by far, even after missing last night. He is the #2 3 point shooter in the country at 50%.
There is no comparison between what Miami was missing and what we were missing.

Honestly, I would have been surprised had we won the game. Miami has been a solid team for a few years now and it being away it was going to be a tough one all the way around. Was surprised with the 95 number.
I’m no Brownell apologist but thought that would have taken a superb performance to get that win.
Dread these few months in a way because of the apologists vs non apologist. I seem to can’t help myself from clicking on the thread knowing how it’s going to go.🤬🤬

I didn't expect it once I heard their best player was out. But I also didn't expect them to shoot so well in the 2H and score 60 pts.

So in watching the entire game, you believe there were no in game adjustments defensively?

For the last freaking time I decided to get a membership here around the time coaching hires, recruiting, and portal rumors were peaking. At this point you’re no longer trolling you’re just harassing others. It’s up to the mods to correct it or I can take my money and get my information elsewhere.

Well you should obviously be the one determining the starting lineup. Your view from the couch during practices must be wonderful
