Our talent level is going to reflect where we are unless we have a generational QB to hide it. But we haven’t even signed a QB in the past 2 classes, and have 2 project guys signed for next year.

Since venables left every single thing has dropped off. Talent, fire, on and on. But he was also the best coordinator we have had or ever will have.

Being a HC and being a coordinator is totally different
Venables was responsible for one side of the ball and was even a position coach. Hands on every day. He was like every other position coach, he had recruiting territories and was responsible for direct recruiting every day. He doesn’t do that as head coach

The timing aligns, but I think it has more to do with unrestricted free agency. Being in a second (or worse) rate conference with a smaller, less affluent fan base means we are definitely swimming against the tide.
To me, that is the most obvious factor in our current level of play. We can land a few blue chippers, just not as many as previously. We too deep is unfortunately a memory now.
