Don't write off Randall either. Dude was playing with a broken hand. I think he has a chance to be an impact guy at WR.

I think Brown and Williams have proven they can be impactful players but that is a good question, why be afraid of competition. It makes everyone better.

My take on the portal. Its not about being scared of competition. For a player to get better they need to play. So why would a kid wanna sit behind a more experienced player if a more experienced player keeps coming in ahead of him.

Lol this list looks the same as the past 3-4 years. Some veterans who may or may not be talented and healthy. Some young players who may become great. And highly touted freshmen.

Antonio Williams and Tyler Brown have demonstrated the ability to consistently run routes and catch the pigskin. Others, including Briningstool have shown potential, but not consistency.
Excited about Wesco speed and Moore talent, but Clemson is known for implementing freshmen WR's primarily on an emergency-only basis when upperclassmen can't get it done. Cautiously optimistic for 2024. Recent WR losses are insignificant.

If one of those freshman are Sammy or Nuke, then you are right. We don’t. But if they are simply freshman, like most are, I disagree. I think a WR that can be a big time deep threat needs to be bought in the portal. But I doubt that happens again this year. I’m having a hard time seeing where the offense will be better next year.

Well, how many balls did Noble catch this year? Half our WR's out with injury and we go with a Ronan H who was recruited as an athlete to play safety. Does that tell you where Noble is? Almost nobody on any of the lists that can stretch the field. Their 40 and 100 M times are less than intimidating. Wesco was electronically timed at 4.55. Other sites list him at 4.42. Skeptical of unsubstantiated times. Ship came in with a publicized 40 of 4.45.

We haven't been WRU for a few years....
I would argue we need an experienced, talented alpha in that room. Wesco & Moore should be real good....but I'd like to have more "experienced" depth.

From 2011-2020 we had 1 season where we didn’t have at least one 1000 yard WR, since 2020 we haven’t had a WR get over 650. That previous run was over multiple QBs including Cole Stout and KB2, so it’s not all DW4 & TL. Grisham has been a failed experiment at developing WR and recruiting speed on the outside. Sick of seeing drops and 8 in the box on defense because we have no deep threat. It’s beyond time to find his replacement, I understand the strategy to wait for early enrollees / after the bowl game but hopefully not long after we can move on

If Wesco and Moore are who we think they are we will be in good shape next season. If they aren’t and the coaches missed again then we are right where we are this season. All depends on those two and making an immediate impact. Turner staying healthy will also be a big factor next season.
Brown is a very good slot receiver but he’s not a WR 1 type. He would flourish if we had a go to guy like Tee Higgins, Justin Ross, Or Mike Williams. They make the defense have to think about more options. Same goes for Williams.
Brinningstool needs to step up next year. He had a lot of drops and wasn’t what he was projected to be. If he doesn’t he’ll get passed.

He is, but he elevated himself with that one good catch in the ACC championship game. Not much beyond that.

Outside of Tyler Brown and Antonio Williams, there isn't one name on that list that anyone even remotely respects on the field. That pains me to say. I'm not opposed to finding a Keon Coleman type in the portal to just give us something of a threat at WR for a year and get everyone up to speed. Every year we have been decimated with injury or pure inconsistency. I'm still extremely skeptical of Grisham coaching because he's shown me nothing in his tenure here to tell me he should stay. There's been so much wrong with the offense cliff dive that it really is just getting one big overhaul at a time and hoping it'll get better soon.
