Would an experienced technical wrestling coach

make a good OLine coach?

Maybe not the top oline coach but wrestling is all about leverage. Having someone who is very skilled at teaching those techniques could be a major asset to our oline.

There was a time when OL coaches were likely to be former wrestlers. Back in the days of multi sport athletes, linemen commonly wrestled in the winter. Your idea isn’t dumb at all.

I think it would help our defensive line more. Learning how to get out of being held and choke holds would make us so much better.

This, but it would help the OL, too. Great way to really learn how to utilize leverage, IMO.

If you put the OL in a 2-point stance there is a very slim chance of them ever winning the leverage battle against a stout DL. The DL has the lower pad level every time. The only way for the OL to block effectively from a 2-point stance on a run is either to shield the defender or get him moving laterally. You just can't get a push from that position.

Maybe we should have a wrestler to coach the DL because they get held so much! Looks like a wrestling match! It’s been horrible!
