Worst city in sc?

2

Dec 7, 2023, 10:48 AM

In my opinion it's my hometown of Newberry. We've had the same mayor for years and all he's done is turn the city into a ######## southern living tourist trap. I grew up in Gaffney and Newberry right now makes it look like Greenville.

Sumter for sure as worst city. As far as best small cities go excluding Greenville-Spartanburg, the chicken coop in Columbia and the Charleston area, I will cast a vote for Aiken. They have a few upscale locally owned restaurants, historic district, horse farms and polo matches. Overall a nice town.

Glad (and surprised) that I have not seen my hometown mentioned, so I won’t call it by name, but here are some clues:

2) It sounds like a placeClemson fans would love
3) It is also Woody Dantzler’s hometown

Since I no longer live in the great state of SC, I'll say any little burg that's an intentional speed trap. I've been pulled over in McBee and Ridgeway and I'm convinced for no other reason than I have a
NC tag.

I grew up in Anderson and there are parts of it now that you can have. The sprall from 85 inward is repulsive. But don't get me started on planning boards or town councils.
Love what they did to the downtown. More people should take advantage of it.

Re: If we are talking Law Enforcement

Dec 7, 2023, 3:13 PM

Wellford use to be a speed trap. The mayor, the judge and police chief working together. They stopped me for going 55 mph in a 50 mph speed zone fined me $70 in the 80’s. Then they had a cop set up on 129 the speed limit goes from 45 mph to 35 mph in less than a mile. You really have be paying attention or or miss the change in speed. They would sit right at the 35 mph sign and pull you over. They also stomped on you Constitutional Rights without any reservations.

I know the PC went to prison for using seized drug money to buy him a new patrol car. The judge was dismissed by the state legislature and finally the mayor was voted out of office.
