The violence perpetrated by the nut jobs on January 6th should have been aggressively put down. Trump was encouraged to take action to quell the rioting and sat back and let it unfold. Police absolutely were attacked.

You probably missed the declaration by the FBI that said it was NOT an insurrection; just a few rioters got carried away. No organized mob at all, all random, and not even close to the damage caused by the riots of 2020. However, we do know that the FBI placed informants in the crowd attempting to entrap the rioters.
