Purnell- 7 seasons. Brad is in his 12th.
OP inherited a team from Shyatt that went 10-18 his first year. Brad inherited a team from OP that had just gone to the Big Dance three years in a row and went 22-12 his first year.
Are you seriously comparing them?

I would also compare the Duke and unc teams from them to now. Unc has stunk for the past few years. Duke is also less than it once was.

I was actually impressed with Brad's coaching in 2010. It wan't the "same team" as we lost the person that made us a tournament team (Booker).
So he did it without our best player in 20 years and did better than OP. OP would not have been able to do that. On the other hand, OP did get an NBA talent when taking over (Ford) however the team was weaker.

Sharrod Ford didnt even get drafted. He did get signed and played a grand total of three games. He was good at Clemson but not NBA talent.

He was signed and played (That is a accomplishment) - granted he was not a career NBA player like Booker but one still has to have the talent just to make it to that level. A lot of folks end up like Ford as kinda the rookie sign an waive is a bit of an issue. Even fringe players like Ford are often some of our better impact players because at the time he was only one of three NBA Clemson players. That is how low our bar is with our talent....

7 vs 11 seasons and Duke and UNC were different teams then. Try again.

Ha, UNC was rebuilding after the Daugherty Years. So one of those wins in LJ was against a short roster UNC team. Later during Roy's 09-10 rebuild they were 5-11. Duke went 8-8 in 2007 as they finally had to adapt to the 1 and done scheme.
So tell me again how they are TOTALLY different now?

Roy's first year at UNC was Felton/May/McCants sophomore year. They were not rebuilding.

Yeah, Daugherty's kids that later won it all the NEXT year. They went 19-16 (6-10) as freshmen. Even Davis is 12-5 and 4-2 right now.
Please tell me that a 19-11 (8-8), first round exit as the 5th seed from the ACC Tourney season, for UNC is "not" a rebuilding year by their standards?

They were ranked in the top 25 and finished like 5th in the ACC. All of the teams above them were ranked as well. The ACC was pretty good that year. You make it out like they were a team full of bums.

And for them it was a rebuilding year. They had a young team, a first-year coach for them (but Roy helps). They lost to Duke TWICE.. and split with just about everyone else save ironically nc state.
The were preseason top 10... and had their 3rd worst season in the past 20 seasons. Only the previous 2020 and 2021 campaigns are worse. Of Course Daugherty's are bad too.
Before the Daughterty's two and Roy's sub-20 wins, UNC had not had a sub-20 win season since 69/70. I mean they have fewer sub-20 win seasons that we have tournament invites.

Your statement is an idiotic one! Mr. dumbbell, what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.

Yea, and how many times did Purnell have 7 minute droughts in a game vs Brownell? (Loses of course). Or how about blowing a 23 point 1st half lead at home with a kid who went to Seneca having his mom in attendance wearing a Boston College t-shirt.( #19 for B.C.) And those are the only reasons you can think of?

First of all, I don't get the logic in keeping a coach based on how his record against 1 or 2 teams compared to a prior coach. Next, with that logic we should've never fired Tommy Bowden as our football coach since he had more wins against FSU than our previous coaches.
