Will Bentley be the first starting gamecawk QB to lose

4 games to Clemson? I don't think there has been a starting QB in the rivalry that has ever lost all 4 games. Boyd didn't start in 2010

That is a record that will never be broken. Tied but not broken.

His daddy will probably ask that he not play against CLEMSON just to prevent saying he played 4 years and lost them all. Spurrier probably taught them that trick.

I have wondered the same question. I have searched all my books on the rivalry and it does not seem that any one single SCAR QB ever started all 4 years against us and lost each time.

Gently Bentley will be the gold standard for laugh-a-rama coot delusion for decades.

Interesting question. The biggest issue would be finding a coot player that was academically eligible to play for four seasons.
I would assume that the 7-finger run in the 30s is the best run but playing a freshman QB was rare upon back in the day. Just can find those stats quickly.

Freshman wouldn't have been allowed to play back then. Not allowed until 1968.

this is one of the reasons the Southern Conference was

formed in 1920 with Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia etc as founding members. Some of the smaller schools in SAIC or whatever the prior conference was wanted to allow FR eligibility. The bigger schools didn't. SEC was then formed in 1933 with the schools west of the Appalachian splitting from the Southern conference. The bigger eastern schools then split in 1953 to form the ACC.

Coots always think they have the next Heisman Trophy QB...

Just more grandiose delusions and over-exaggerated optimism, and absolutely none of them ever live-up to expectations.
If I'm wagering, my bet is this left coast kid will be no different.
