Why would you bring in an interim HC if you already had BV?

Just let an OU assistant coach the remainder of the season and name the new HC now. These are not the actions and AD would take if they already had a replacement on board.

Because it lets Bob revel in the glory for one more game and when they land their big fish, he can sell it to the fanbase. It's a bit like Barry Alvarez at Wisconsin when they were between coaches a few years ago and he coached the bowl.

If you name an assistant who's likely leaving anyway the interim, fans don't care. Stoops coaching sells tickets and keeps people dialed in through transition.

You would want to name the coach and hit the recruiting ground NOW! I don't see Brent being a guy secretly recruiting OU while on the Clemson staff. We know he is not the slimy type, but people keep avoiding facts and logic, for some other form of entertainment.

Makes perfect sense to me. If you hire one now you cut yourself off from many coaches who are going to be in the playoffs and dont want to discuss anything til the season is over to not cause a distraction. Many coaches over the years publicly refused to talk to other schools until their season was over.
