Why is everyone so upset at Brownell?

We finished 3rd in the ACC and got better as the year went on. It’s a joke if we aren’t in the tournament. Anger should be directed more at the numbers and metrics that still has NC State as a better team than us

It’s like the Louisville, Loyola-Chi, BC, and coot losses never happened.

Since those games don’t count, or Brad didn’t coach those games, or some other rainbow unicorn fantasy- it really is hard to believe folks wouldn’t want more Brad for years and years.

I don’t think it’s anger as much as disappointment.
Yes we finished third, but when you look at the whole body of work you see that there’s not much upside. This year was our best chance at winning an ACCT and we won one game and got bumped in embarrassing fashion. Now w may not even make the NCAA and at best have a play in game that we will most likely lose as well. That’s the issue. Those people who are only looking at this season and wondering why all the brownell dumpers haven’t been paying attention for over a decade

For me, it is worse than disappointment. I am wholly uninspired. I spent many days on the floor in my days on campus. Now, I just don’t care. There is nothing about BB teams that inspire me. Further, I see no reason to think the next 13 years would be any different than the last. If this is what Clemson wants, there will be nearly no interest from. I have seen this movie before, far too many times. It is sad, really, as I want to be a diehard fan.

Got better as the year went on? At one point, Clemson was 10-1 in the ACC and finished 15-7. That is not improvement.

But that flys in the face of the Brownell bros agenda… and they like to come on here and say anyone who is tired of 13 years of mediocre and disappointing results has an agenda… LOL

If some people here weren’t so against Brownell and the basketball program

they would be upset with the system and not be using this as a reason to complain about him and our “weak schedule.”
Can you imagine if our football team had a really good year and missed the playoffs? These same people would be screaming about how unfair the system is and how the committee is anti-Clemson. You wouldn’t hear a thing about Dabo or how awful the ACC is.
But since it’s basketball, the gripes are all about how awful our coach is and how it’s all our fault for not playing better.
It’s a very fascinating contrast to see play out here.

has barely one 50% of all its hoops games in history. IN the ACC history its close to 40% wins for Clemson and in the ACC tourney 28%. He has won about 58% of his Clemson games. I didnt check those specific last 2 categories for him. But I suspect they are better than historical results. Maybe research them and learn something.

Who cares? Why is it acceptable to you for the goal to be “slightly better than our historical average”.
Talk about boring…

We lost to Notre Dame and South Carolina in football

and many of our fans were arguing for us to get into the playoffs somehow.
There was little mention of how horrible the ACC was or how bad a job Dabo did (even though we were highly favored in both of those losses and underachieved relative to preseason expectations).

We would have been in the playoffs had we not lost the closer to USC and absolutely no one argued we should have been given a mulligan. Sorry Brownell simply doesn’t have the goods. Sad you’re desperately crying about trying to be the last at large in a field of 68 versus a program that has finished in the top 20 eleven straight years. One year shy of doubling the all time record at Clemson for such a streak. So any argument that Dabo is simply benefiting from the program’s history are false.

Link to “many of our fans were arguing for us to get into the playoffs”? I sure wasn’t and I don’t remember many arguing for it.

You're as hard on Dabo as some of the jokesters are on Brad.

I think Dabo is a great coach. I don’t want him fired.
People who have an agenda against Brad think he’s a horrible coach and are on a crusade to get him fired.

Is mediocre the best Clemson can get now? The “agenda” that chaps your nips is wanting to do what’s best for Clemson.
Those that have an agenda against Clemson want Brad to stay. No. Matter. What.

At this point in Brownell’s tenure though I do personally believe that it’s time for a change at head coach. BB is an honorable, respectful coach who represents Clemson well. But he does not win games consistently and has not improved the program to the level that Clemson and most universities expect. Not all great men are great coaches, it’s nothing personal against BB.

Instead of a bunch of internet trolls. We would’ve changed things years ago vs splitting hairs on what has been a successful season. Hope you crybabies have more for this evening. I’m all for raising the bar, put it in his contract.
