If they kick the XP, it's a 7 point game, and you still have the option to go for 2 later to win.

Not sure what going for 2 gets you there.

Weird call (they got it, so more power to em), but still a weird call.

Because if you make it and score next time you kick an extra point for the win. If you miss it here then you can stil attempt a 2 point conversion to tie it later. Basically going for the potential win here without as much pressure on the play.
