He has absolutely no ties to that area as far as I know.
And why go, when more than likely Chad will be head coach AND call offensive plays?

Same reason coaches change jobs every year- a title. That's what this profession is all about. It's why dabo quit coaching years ago, he couldn't get 1.

Jeff's in a really sweet spot, although the lowest paid assistant we have. He grew up in SC, coached HS ball here, played at CU, married a girl he met here. Money and an opportunity would be the only two reasons, obviously. I'm betting his last option is to leave CU.

i don't think Jeff would leave, especially if he got the Clemson OC job, but at some point, Jeff has to leave the nest and demonstrate his value somewhere besides Clemson if he desires to be HC one day. Asst coaches that stay at one school can get pegged as a product of the system that may not transfer to other schools and regions of the county. He's a great recruiter, but this is where he grew up and coached high school, so it's an easy sell for him. Can he do it in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, etc? Not saying he can't, but something he has to think about for his long term career goals.
