very low football iq shows up in many places. that was clearly one like the corner blitz when the safety doesnt cover their best wr or loafing at safety before the half and letting a guy run by you.

I would blame the OC, and maybe he did make the call, but we’ve been doing crap like that for years. It seems that we have to get “cute” in a crucial moment. I’m still miffed about that kickoff return fumble vs. SC in 2022. Why do that stuff? It has Dabo’s signature.

What a mistake Schef made. He might have sixed his opportunity to play in Europe with this dead end move. If he couldn't be the target instead of the 23 sec 40 yd dash they trotted out there, turn in your cleats.

I've been wondering the same thing! Guess they thought they could catch Duke asleep. Odd play call when Duke couldn't stop the run. Get 7 there instead of 3 and we're have a different conversation.

I’m guessing that, subconsciously, Dabo knows that he and his staff lack the X’s and O’s expertise to run nuanced creative plays using our known talented skill players.
Therefore, Dabo coaching staffs devise circus-type plays in hopes of wildly fooling the opposing defense and then getting an easy TD. It reeked of a play that Clemson coaches knew would fool Clemson’s defense, so certainly it will fool any other team’s defense.
Of course it didn’t fool Duke.
This all shows how far behind the 8-ball Dabo’s coaches are on X’s and O’s versus (most) of our Power 4 opponents.
As far as the execution of that throw to Pendergrass, CK2 should have had the sense that, in the case that Pendergrass, the ball should not be thrown unless Pendergrass was standing all alone in the middle of the end zone.

This sums up Dabos coaching ability . He is the head coach and should have stopped Riley from doing this . Running it down their throats and pull a stunt like that . That was full Dabo right there
