Well,I would assume in the current college football landscape he’s actually unhireable. So that says something.
I mean Alabama doesn’t even want him and he’s an alum who’s beat them twice for natty’s.

who run a clean program, graduate players, and represent the university well who can win 8-9 games a year - and do it for much less than $11 million a year.
I hope Dabo figures things out, but it’s going to start with some real introspection on his part.
In other words, his hubris-filled statements like “I have never failed at anything” and “I’ll go somewhere else where they appreciate me” need to be replaced with an awareness that we are where we are right now because of him and the decisions he has made, an acknowledgment that things should have been done better, and a willingness to do what it takes to fix those errors.

Well if Dabo doesn't turn it around, doesn't retire or doesn't get fired, I'm sure his next contract will be less. You can't blame the man for getting paid while he could. It really wasn't anything outside the going salary.
In 2009, 1st year HC, Dabo made $817K, in the 2016 season when Clemson won the NC, he was making $4.4 million (Saban $6.94 million), in the 2018 season when Clemson won the NC, he was making $6.5 million (Saban $8.3 million) and in the 2019 season when Clemson played for and lost the NC, he was making $9.3 million (Saban $8.85 million).
DeBoer lost a NC at Washington and hadn't coached a play at Bama is making $10 million this year. I guess he earned that $800K+ yesterday beating Western Kentucky.
What do you think is fair?
Only 2 on the below top 25 paid list have ever won a Div 1 football NC, CFP or BCS. You guessed it Kirby and Dabo.

He deserved them and they were fair for the going rate and what he accomplished here.
But he certainly isn’t earning his current one the last few years. I don't think this is debatable.

Brent Venables. I could see him leaving oklahoma for 12 million a year to become HC at Clemson. I could see Matt Luke taking the job. I would not rule out any current top 10 coach at 12 million a year.

We don't have a history of running coaches off. But all coaches at the elite programs know their jobs hinge on " what have you done for me lately" and you can only survive on your past for so long." College coaches know the profession requires frequently moving from one school to another.

Did you read all the headlines today, ESPN, FOX tons of articles that would explain to all but the numbest minds on this board why we were replacing him. We ain’t running him off a year after a NC, or 3 for that matter

You're dumb if you don't realize how much money speaks. He hasn't produced in 7 years but commands a huge salary. Ohio State fired Tressel, they found someone instantly. Oklahoma fired Big Game Bob. USC cleans house every 3-4 years. If you can pay, coaches will come.

Why would Coach V leave Oklahoma? Coach Luke is tremendous, but he struggled as a head coach.

This is just the head coaches around the sport. This doesn’t even include top coordinators on either side of the ball.
I promise you for 11 mill a year… everyone of those guys listed will at least pick up the phone and listen.
It’s unbelievable that they’re people on here that think Dabo is the best we could do. We have state of the art facilities… a winning tradition… it’s proven you can win national championships here… fertile recruiting grounds bordering all around us… a fan base that’s proven we will put up the money it takes to win… among a ton of other factors.
Clemson is now considered a destination job and for what we’re willing to pay and the pool of money we’re willing to give to get assistants we could absolutely poach all except maybe 4/5 sitting head coaches. Anybody that says or believes otherwise is either to far up Dabos rear to be objective or they just don’t want to admit Dabos time is over.

He has an old school tough guy approach to to practice and how he players conduct themselves. He'll have a who's who of NFL stars at practice and he'll use the portal and NIL.

I'd rather have the young, hungry Dabo who was coaching for his job. The current version is a little too arrogant and prideful, and he knows he can't be fired no matter how many games he wins and loses.

I can't think of another head coach I'd rather have. I like our OL coach too. I believe in Dabo. I respect his values, principles, and the culture he has created at Clemson.
