Who will be next year's offensive and defensive surprise?
Jan 23, 2012, 2:46 PM

Looking at our returning players for next year along with the upcoming recruiting class, we have the potential for someone to step up and really knock our socks off like Sammie did this year. Who of our returning players AND recruits may be that "OMG Surprise" player we did not forsee next year on the offensive and defensive side? I'll post my choices later.

I kinda see Lateek stepping up. Heard that guy is pretty crazy. Always good to have that "crazy" guy on the field.

I'd add Spencer Region on OL. I think he's gonna be a beast.

Hope you are right on both counts! Both have great potential and Blanks already has great attitude! Lets hope Bellamy is humble, strengthened & fired up!

Some have replied with Lateek or Bellamy. I don't think

either of them having a killer year would be that big of a surprise. Lateek will definitely see the field more and will make an impact. Bellamy has every tool necessary to have great year.
I am going to go below the radar and pick:
Offense: Kalon Davis. If we are to have a great year, we need some players on the O-line to step up. I believe Kalon has the tools. If he can find another gear he has not shown yet, he could be one of those players.
I expect Lakip to eventually beat out Cat man at kicker. Maybe this year.
In this years recruiting class, I expect to hear from: Travis Blanks and Bradley Pinion, most likely as starters before the year is over. I also expect Hopper on special teams, Brooks in various roles and one of the O-line guys to see significant time this year.

Sammy and Germone on KR is gonna be VERY exciting to watch.. I will be holding my breath each time either one of them gets the ball cause they both can take it to the house every time..

I believe that Hopper will and should RS. We already have young WRs in Peake, Bryant, Humphries, etc. Using him just for ST would be, as I felt with Teek this year, a waste of a year of eligability. He'll be great but I'd rather keep him an extra year for when we start to lose our WRs.

I'm gonna say Mike Bellamy will really break out and surprise everyone next year.. That kid has such amazing raw talent and I think that he finally gets his head straight and puts all that talent on display..

I'm hoping that Boyd makes faster reads, throws to OUR guys, stops forcing throws, and has better footwork. If so, he gets my vote for POTY. He has the potential to outshine EVERYONE hands down.
We can't even imagine how good we could be if Boyd steps it up a few notches. He has everything he needs to do it too.
I wouldn't mind seeing him break a few runs too. We just need some bigger holes (OLINE?? ya' listening?).

Jenkins may be undersized but the man is quick and he can read the receivers eyes very Well, just watch the acccg. Im saying bellamy because I feel he has something to prove. Remember bellamy saying he guarantees breaking spillers records?
