Loston & Holloman

Oct 13, 2012, 9:51 PM

It's a shame to think both of them were Clemson commits, and are now starting for these teams. Both of them are very solid players and could be contributing a lot to our defense.

that thin class in Dabo's first year has hurt us

Oct 13, 2012, 9:53 PM

on the other hand, almost all of the guys we did get are starters now.

I am so tired of that. we're full. we've recruited well since then. that ship has sailed.

yeah, but that means we're really young

that short recruiting class would've had Loston and Holloman in it, which is why I mentioned it

Both would start for us

Loston would start over Meeks and Holloman would start at Sam over Blanks. We would be much better with them but we got ourselves in this mess with our lack of depth at DB.

We didn't recruit enough quality or quantity the last few years. And have done a poor job in coaching and development. They have seemed to regress since being underclassmen.

who has seemed to regress?

The only one I can think of is Hall, who is actually a great player with the ball in the air but who might be more responsible for stopping run plays now. I can't get over how bad his angles have been this year.

I think Hall has regressed. Part of that is his injury I'm sure but he had a lot of interceptions as a Fr.

Meeks looked like someone who had a lot of potential. This year he has been terrible. Bad angles and when he is in position he misses tackles.

Brewer has looked worse to me this year than in the past. He always had a tendency to get beat deep though.

Robinson has been a disappointment this year. I thought he would improve and be better.

A think a lot of it is not just regression but bad evaluations in recruiting and not realizing the need to recruit more numbers. We didn't go after Justin Coleman who is a great man to man CB.

2008- Adams was a bust, Brewer, Hall and Lewis were other DBs. Lewis was role player
2009- Meeks was only DB
2010- Brown was a big miss, McKelvey never enrolled. So we bring in Breeland, Robinson, Jenkins, Peters at CB
2011- Cortez Davis who hasn't played and Robert Smith
2012- Williams goes to ECU, Tankersly doesn't qualify, so just get Blanks and Geohagen

We have missed on a lot and what we have seems better suited for S without true cover corners.
