Of course coaches aren't involved in NIL directly, but I've read numerous posts here already making excuses for our recruiting being down. Excuse #1 blames NIL, and suggests that our coaches don't have as much to offer players in terms of prospective NIL deals compared to "big money" schools.

I have never used NIL as an excuse for basketball recruiting.

Our basketball recruiting issues are multifactorial, and are a combination of our poor basketball history, our reputation as a football school, not enough strong recruiters on staff, and not enough Clemson players in the NBA.
With that said, we are starting to see NIL excuses posted here for football. I predict that it will persist if we continue seeing a downward trajectory in our recruiting.

we put out a very low number of offers to our "top X%" of our needs by position. Then when we swing & miss on those top targets we're left either playing "catch up" w/ a late offer (saying my 1st and 2nd choice didn't pick me do you want to?).........or we throw an offer to a lower rated recruit or what justifiers like to call "diamonds in the rough"

He has a better chance of early playing time at FL. Gonna be hard to get on the field with Ship, Pace and Mafah. That’s what it comes down to with all these guys. Can’t really blame him for that.

and no guts ?? to see if he can be better runner than big Bro, which I doubt he or any runner could be due to ETN being one-of-a kind never to be duplicated imho.
Still, would love having him since entire family is very special, smart & very caring in which school they’’ll choose..and they know what went down at Clemson for 4 positive & rewarding years and what it did for ETN and his life & career.
Nuff said.
