Which RB is better Shipley or Mafah?

I know it's a terrible problem to have. I just like the way Mafah runs the ball, looks like he's on skates, the way he just glides down the field. Shipley is like a bull in a china closet.

Each has his own strengths/weaknesses.....
Mafah is better in pass pro Shipley is better receiving Shipley has better top end speed and can get to the 2nd level faster Mafah can run through tackles and is better in short yardage situations
Depending upon the situation, each has his own strengths. I'd actually like to see more 2-back sets---that seemed to throw defenses off when Streeter had some rare moments of lucidity.

Idk Shipley seems to have a lot of drops or right of the finger tips

That sort of thing on a lot of his targets. It could have been DJ but wheel route in the ACCCG comes to mind. Shipley just fell down.

Hopefully Riley can get this cleaned up and we see more passes to Shipley in space.

I like both players, but I would have to say I think Ship is more consistent and seems to motivate the team more. Both are great running backs.

When we need a play, receiving or short yardage, Shipley is the man! I've seen him do it so many times. He just keeps grinding

Because of his size and ability to run through or over defenders
I love shipley though because that guy just finds a way and his legs never stop moving.
I think Mafah is going to be a starting NFL tailback

Mafah has more potential. Ship has maxed and does what he does. He’s got limited top end but lord a mercy he can truck guys/leap guys/and yac so hard defenses just shake their heads. Mafah has more that we haven’t seen and hopefully he develops.

I agree. Mafah has an edge in potential. He has a flavor of Derrick Henry when he hits a hole and starts running through tackles. I hope he reaches his full potential.

Both, thought different in styles, will be extremely effective in a one-back spread offense like Riley runs.
Spread the field out. When the box is light, the OL puts a hat on a hat and the RB hits the hole and blasts down the field. Both are strong, powerful and hard to tackle with arm tackles. When the box is heavy, both will have to pass protect, or flare out and be the check down, while the QB looks for the open man downfield.
I go all the way back to Art Briles at Baylor. He used that version of offense better than any coach I've ever seen. I wasn't smart enough to figure out all the pass route reads, but one thing was clear: Five in the box, put a hat on a hat and hand the ball to the big, strong, tough RB. Six in the box, throw the ball. I watched Baylor make "great defenses" look inept.

Ship is going to eat in our new offense, I can see him getting 750 yards rushing and 500 receiving.

We need both - but Mafah is clearly the better passer

I like ship in short yardage situations. Mafah can be a home run hitter tho. even though ship might be faster in a 40 yd dash he runs too hard for his own good almost and runs out of gas after 15 yds or so.

Prefer Mafah as he appears to be a NFL caliber bruiser with nice speed and great protection. However, Shipley has that dog in him and brings the intensity every play.

Regardless, if I could pick one it would be Mafah.

Do not go there - they both are great and complement one another like no other pair of running back in college football!!!!

I like Shipley. If we need something to happen, I trust giving the ball to Shipley.
